Design Technology and Engineering (Robotics)
Back to Art, Design and Technologies
Subject Name: | Design Technology and Engineering (Robotics) |
Level of Study: | Stage 2 |
Length of Course: | Year |
Prerequisite: | NA |
Pre-requisites
No pre-requisites
What will be in the course?
Students develop their creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills as they solve challenges using robotic and electronic systems. They use an iterative process as they analyse the problem, design their solution, create a design brief, construct a prototype, evaluate the finished product, and consider the impact it might have on society.
This subject encompasses a variety of skills depending on student interest, including:
- VEX robotics and autonomous self-driving robots
- soldering and electronics
- 3D design and printing (CAD)
- mechanical design
- engineering simulation and stress analysis software (Fusion 360)
- microcontroller boards (such as Arduino and micro:bit)
- communication systems (eg: radio telemetry, Bluetooth)
