Subject Name: Design Technology and Engineering (Robotics)
Level of Study: Stage 2
Length of Course: Year
Prerequisite: NA

Pre-requisites

No pre-requisites

What will be in the course?

Students develop their creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills as they solve challenges using robotic and electronic systems. They use an iterative process as they analyse the problem, design their solution, create a design brief, construct a prototype, evaluate the finished product, and consider the impact it might have on society.

This subject encompasses a variety of skills depending on student interest, including:

  • VEX robotics and autonomous self-driving robots
  • soldering and electronics
  • 3D design and printing (CAD)
  • mechanical design
  • engineering simulation and stress analysis software (Fusion 360)
  • microcontroller boards (such as Arduino and micro:bit)
  • communication systems (eg: radio telemetry, Bluetooth)

How will I be assessed?
