Art, Design, and Technologies

At Year 12, students undertake a highly specialised and self-directed learning journey, refining their skills and developing a strong, independent voice in their chosen pathway. Stage 2 Art, Design and Technologies offers a suite of advanced subjects—including Visual Art (Art and Design), Digital Technologies, and Design Technologies and Engineering—allowing students to pursue areas of passion while preparing for future pathways.

In Visual Art (Art and Design), students develop a personal body of work that reflects their ideas, interests and perspectives. Through investigation, experimentation and resolution, they refine technical skills while exploring concepts with increasing depth and sophistication. Students engage critically with artists, designers and visual culture, using these insights to inform and challenge their own practice, and ultimately present resolved works that communicate meaning with clarity and intention.

In Digital Technologies, students work at the forefront of a rapidly evolving field, developing skills in programming, data analysis and computational thinking. They design and implement digital solutions, explore the possibilities of artificial intelligence, and consider the ethical implications of emerging technologies, preparing them to navigate and shape the digital future.

In Design Technologies and Engineering (Robotics), students apply the design cycle to solve complex, real-world problems through hands-on, project-based learning. They design, prototype and manufacture solutions using tools such as CAD, electronics and 3D printing, while building and programming robotic systems. This pathway fosters innovation, precision and adaptability, with strong connections to contemporary engineering and manufacturing industries.

Across all subjects, students are challenged to think creatively and critically, take ownership of their learning, and respond to complex problems with initiative and purpose. They develop the confidence to pursue ambitious ideas, the resilience to refine and improve their work, and the ability to communicate effectively across visual, digital and physical forms.

Art, Design and Technologies at Year 12 is both a culmination and a launch point – equipping students with the skills, mindset and creative confidence required for further study and a wide range of future pathways.
