Lacrosse:

Keely Sheidow (Year 12)

Keely was selected as captain. The team had a strong start to the tournament which carried throughout and was undefeated. They went onto winning the semi-final which sent them straight through to the Championship game which they won 7-6 against WA bringing home the National Championship.

On conclusion of the tournament the ALN all-tournament team was released which Keely was named ALN all-tournament defender, the ALN all-tournament team is selected by all the head coaches of all the teams and considers the players performance over the week.

Zach Parish (Year 11)

Zach was also named captain of the undefeated U18 South Australian Boys’ National Team. They defeated the Vic’s on their home turf in the grand final 11-6. Zach was named MVP for the game against WA, the only defender to win an MVP in the tournament.

At the conclusion, Zach was announced as the joint Best and Fairest of the tournament with another South Australian lad. Like Keely, Zach also was named in the ALN all-tournament team and was the first pick defender.

Congratulations to Keely and Zach on their leadership roles and outstanding performances over the tournament.

Archery:

Josh Holmes (Year 10)

Throughout the week during and leading up to easter, Josh represented SA in the 2024 Youth Archery National Championships. Day one on Wednesday was unofficial practice then official practice and the opening ceremony followed by 4 days of competition.

The first day was a 900 round, on that day Josh had to shoot 30 arrows at 50m, 40m, and 30m. His total score at the end of the day was 737 out of 900. The next day was a field shoot, where he had to walk around in the bush and shoot at targets from 5m to 50m.

The days followed were indoor and 720 rounds. Indoor is different from normal target archery because it is indoors so no wind or weather to worry about, but you are much closer, and the targets are only 40cm wide. The 720 was probably Josh’s best day of the competition as he beat PB by a lot and came 5th. Overall, he came 5th in the country, and according to Josh it was an amazing experience.

Josh’s goal now is to qualify for the 2025 Trans -Tasman competition against New Zealand.

Tilly Sims (Year 10)

Over the week leading up to easter Tilly also represented SA in the 2024 Youth Archery National Championships, like Josh this included 6 shooting days. Tilly placed 4th nationally overall.

Every comp day had different events, but all added up at the end. She placed 4th in every event except the very last day where she placed 3rd. Tilly also shot a lot of PBs over the week, and now has an Archery Australia National bronze medal.

Tilly said it was an amazing experience and now knows what to work on to reach her goal of representing Australia in 2025.
