Carols in the Quad

With a late change of venue for this year’s event, I was a little concerned that all wouldn’t go to plan. I needn’t have worried, as it was a wonderful evening held in our 175th Anniversary Quad.

Thank you to all the students and staff for their support and flexibility. Originally programmed for the Cathedral, and not an open-air event, I thought the choirs and handbells did a terrific job.

We are excited to continue a community carols event again next year so watch this space for more details in the new year.

Senior Drum Corps & Senior String Ensemble

The Senior Drum Corps have two final performances for this year:

  • Thursday 8 December they are playing at the Year 6 ‘Moving On’ ceremony. Students to meet in the Gym at 8.30am with their drums.
  • Friday 9 December musicians are playing the procession and recession at the final school assembly. Students to collect their drums and meet in the Gym at 2.00pm.

Senior String Ensemble have one final performance this year:

  • Friday 9 December musicians are performing at the final assembly and need to meet me in the Gym at 2.00pm for a sound check.

ELC Christmas Concert

Last Thursday morning we had over 100 parents and grandparents attend the ELC Christmas Concert held in Kurrajong. The very young ELC children all participated and sang for the enthusiastic and supportive audience. Thanks to the ELC Team, Narelle Steffan and Meredith Wilson for making this event the success it was.

2023 Instrumental Music Program Application

The Instrumental Music Program Application form and policy for 2023 are being finalised and should be released onto the school web site very soon. In the meantime, please email Laura Brougham (laura.brougham@pulteney.sa.edu.au) with your expression of interest and once applications are confirmed we will email you.

All current instrumental program students are required to re-apply for 2023, as current enrolments do not automatically roll-over. Please contact us if you are unsure or need assistance.

Reception to Year 4 Christmas Concert

This year’s Junior School R-4 Christmas Concert ‘Lights, Camel, Action’ is fast approaching and will take place on Thursday 8 December at 6.00pm in the Robert Henshall Sports Centre. Please click here to get your tickets. We have allocated three tickets per family for this event at no cost. The show will run for approximately 70 minutes.

The students have all worked so hard to prepare for this special event. We look forward to seeing you all then.

Year 7 IPA & Year 8 IPA Concert

Yesterday the whole Year 7 cohort presented two performances, with over 150 parents attending the 6.00pm show. The students did a wonderful job being engaged, active and simply having a go! For some of the students, it was outside of their comfort zone, and I congratulate these young people for giving it a try. To the seasoned performers in this year level, it was great to see them be leaders and significant contributors to the performances. Special thanks to my team, Ms Kwok, Ms Hibbert, Mr Hicks and Ms Dobré. Thanks also to Mosaic AV. We get to do this all again today with the Year 8’s. I am sure it will be as much fun as it was yesterday.

Jesus Christ Superstar 2023

After our appeal last week, we have had one parent volunteer to help out with the JCS costumes but more people are needed. If you are interested in helping, please email me directly at jonathon.rice@pulteney.sa.edu.au

Speech Night

The Performing Arts students did themselves proud with the Senior Drum Corps, Senior String Ensemble, Jazz on the Terrace, MS/SS Dance Troupe, Joaquin Velasco and brother Raphael, and Stage Band 1 all performing brilliantly. These students added so much to the event, especially the MS/SS Dance Troupe with the first ever dance item to be performed at Speech Night in 174 years of this event. The colour, entertainment, and class they added was fantastic. Congratulations to our dance teacher Rosy Dobré and her troupe of dancers!

Instrumental Hire

If your child is not planning on continuing to learn an instrument in 2023 and they currently use a hire instrument, please return this instrument to Laura Brougham as soon as possible (laura.brougham@pulteney.sa.edu.au). If we do not return these hire instruments this year, additional charges will apply for Term 1 2023. These instruments are provided by an external company, so we have no wriggle room with their hire and the charges attached.

Jazz in the Terrace Auditions 2023

As a result of an amazing display of skill, ambition and talent, we have created Jazz on the Terrace 2 for 2023. This group will rehearse every Wednesday lunch time with Director Katia Labozzetta.  I look forward to seeing this new group perform early next year.

Christmas Message

Finally, after over 80 live music, drama and dance performances this year, I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a safe new year. While it has been a huge 2022, I cannot wait to get stuck into 2023 after a few weeks off to recharge and prepare.

Thank you to all the parents and students who have made this year possible.

Head of Performing Arts
