Lessons & Carols

On Tuesday 29 November, this annual event will be held at St Peter’s Cathedral commencing at 7.00pm. It is looking to be another wonderful event, featuring performances by the R-2 Junior Choir, Junior Concert Choir, Grammarphones, Senior Concert Choir, Jazz on the Terrace and Senior Handbell Ensemble. It will conclude at around 8.30pm.

While the students will travel via bus to and from the rehearsals during the day, we do rely upon parents to get the students to and from the event in the evening. Parent consent for this event was emailed last week. I will see you there!

Speech Night

We are very much looking forward to Speech Night, which will be held next Thursday 1 December at 7.00pm at the Adelaide Convention Centre. The Senior Drum Corps, Senior String Ensemble, Jazz on the Terrace, MS/SS Dance Troupe, Stage Band 1 and Joaquin Velasco will all be performing as part of this year’s celebration.

Students will be required to attend a sound check on the morning of the event and must arrange own parent/carer transport to arrive at the Adelaide Convention Centre by 9.00am. Students will also need to provide own parent/carer transport to and from the event in the evening. An email with parent consent was sent last week and includes the finer details.

Everyone must arrive between 6.15-6.30pm. Please see updated pick-up times below:

7.05pm: Senior String Ensemble and Senior Drum Corps finish and can be collected if the student is not engaged with another group or an award

Approx. 9.15-9.30pm (end of the evening): Jazz on the Terrace, Stage Band 1, MS/SS Dance Troupe, Joaquin Velasco

The Year 8s will do the same concert format and times on Tuesday 6 December.

Coffee in the Lane

This Friday 25 November, members of the R-2 Junior Choir, Junior Concert Choir and Grammarphones Choir will be performing in the Coffee in the Lane. All students are asked to please arrive at 7.30am so they can do a warmup with their choir director.

Final Soiree for 2023

Thank you so much to the performers and departments for last night’s soiree held in the Chapel. It was a wonderful and entertaining way to finish off the year.

Year 10/11 Drama – What a night of entertainment!

The Year 10/11 Drama classes certainly put on two great shows on Wednesday and Thursday night last week. Thank you and congratulations to the actors of the two Senior drama classes. Given what we saw, I cannot wait to see the Year 12 drama class plays in 2023 and 2024, as the standard of acting is fantastic. Thanks also to the two drama teachers, Jamie Hibbert and Charlie Thompson for their support of the students through this amazing journey.

Co-Curricular Performing Arts

Most of the programmed Performing Arts Co-curricular will all terminate by the end of this week, Week 6.

The 2023 performing arts co-curricular booklets will be released to parents via email tomorrow. We are very excited about the co-curricular class options for 2023.

Stage Band 1, Senior Concert Band, Senior String Ensemble

These groups are all winding down their rehearsals as we rapidly approach the end of the school year. Could parents and members please be aware of the following;

Concert Band

  • Final rehearsal for the year was held yesterday (Monday 21 November)

Stage Band 1

  • The final rehearsal with the new band is Monday 28 November, 3.45-5.00pm
  • The old band will also be doing a sound check on Thursday 1 December at the Adelaide Convention Centre followed by a performance at Speech Night
  • This then marks the end of Stage Band 1 for 2023

Senior String Ensemble

  • Final rehearsal is tonight (Tuesday 22 November), but they do have a sound check at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Thursday 1 December in the morning followed by the performance that evening at Speech Night

Year 9 Sound Engineering

Last Friday, the current Year 9 sound engineering class went on an excursion with Mr Hicks and Mr Rice to Songbird Society recording students in Bowden. We thank Songbird so much for the opportunity to see a real recording studio up-close and have many small but important questions responded too.

Musical Theatre Troupe Production

Our co-curricular musical theatre troupe performed a bunch of wonderful songs last night, in the Dance Factory. Thanks to Katie Jackson, the group director, for all her hard work with the students, and to the students themselves for their amazing skill and passion. Well done to all.

Year R-2 Dance Troupes

The Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 co-curricular dance troupes are all back into the dance factory this week. Thanks for your understanding over the past few weeks.

All co-curricular dance troupes end this week, Week 6.
