Year 6
Welcome to Year 6, 2026
We are looking forward to being part of your child’s learning journey this year.
To stay up to date with important information throughout the year, we strongly encourage you to download the Pulteney Parent App and subscribe to Year 6.
Parent Information Night
Books and Stationery
- Please ensure that all items are clearly named as this will assist the students with their organisation in the classroom.
- We kindly ask that you do not subject name the exercise books and folders as we will go through the stationery with the students at school.
- A large soft pencil case is required to keep all the spare stationery (pens, pencils, erasers and the like), safe until they are needed
Uniform
Children are required to wear their PE uniform to school on the days they have PE and Dance. PE and Dance days for each class are as follows:
- 6D (Corrina Douangphoumy): Wednesday (PE) and Friday (Dance)
- 6E (Amber Elsdon) Thursday (PE) and Friday (Dance)
- 6S (Olivia Swann): Thursday (Dance) and Friday (PE)
This year, students will have a double PE lesson, so they will have only one timetabled PE day.
On all other days, children should wear their formal uniform and will change into or out of their PE uniform if they have any extra-curricular sport sessions before or after school.
Hats:
Please also ensure your child has a named Pulteney play hat. Play hats are recommended every day and must be worn during Recess and Lunch whenever the UV rating is 3 or above. They are compulsory during Terms 1 and 4.
Brain food
Please pack a healthy snack for a morning Brain Food break. This snack could consist of fresh fruit or vegetables. No processed food please. Please be aware Pulteney is a nut aware school, so nuts or nut products are not to be brought to school.
Please send a named drink bottle containing water for your child to drink during class time.
Tuck Orders
Recess and Lunch should be packed into your child’s lunch box. Tuck orders are also available to order through the Qkr! App. Any recess and lunch orders on the Qkr! App must be completed by 8.30am on the day.
Please note, Year 6 children are required to use the Qkr! App to order from the Tuck Shop and are not permitted to use money during school hours.
Morning & After School Routines
MORNING
- In Terms 1 and 4, supervised play is available in the yard from 8.15am. This encourages children to enjoy outdoor play before the start of their day of learning, and teachers are also available at this time if you need to speak with them.
- In Terms 2 and 3, classrooms are open from 8.15am, in addition to outdoor duty, allowing children to settle inside or play outside before school begins.
- Alternatively, you may choose to drop your child at the Gilles St ‘Kiss and Drop’ from 8.15 – 8.30am.
- Classroom learning will commence at 8.30am promptly.
- Students arriving at school later than 8.40am need to be signed in at Allan Wheaton House before coming to class.
- We are encouraging the children to get into the routine of unpacking their school bag in the classroom before going out to play with their friends each morning before school, weather permitting.
AFTERNOON
- Our school day ends at 3.20pm.
- Students can be collected from the Year 3-6 basketball court
- Alternatively, they can wait with the duty teacher at the Gilles St entrance until parents arrive.
- Children attending OSHC will be collected by an OSCH staff member.
- Children who are not collected by 3.40pm will be taken to OSHC.
Other Helpful Information
- All toys, games and precious items are to remain at home please.
- Birthday invitations – please use addresses located in the ‘Buzz Book’ which can be accessed via the Parents Community Portal to send birthday invitations directly to families. Please do not give invitations out at school as it could cause upset to some children not invited.
- Please remember to send your child’s play hat on the first day.
- Please bring all labelled books and unnamed stationery to School on ‘book drop off’ day – Tuesday 27 January between 2-3pm.
We are really looking forward to a wonderful year ahead and can’t wait to get to know your children.
