Welcome to Year 5 2024

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We hope you have all enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing break over the summer, and the students are feeling refreshed and excited to start Year 5.

We have outlined some information below that may be helpful for you and your child as the new school year begins.

Please note, Full School Summer uniform is to be worn on day 1, Tuesday 30 January 2024.

We look forward to meeting and welcoming those of you who are able to attend the Junior School Parent Information and Welcome Evening at 5.30pm on Thursday 1 February. Please RSVP here.

Term 1 is a 11-week term, with Easter falling within the Term, Friday 29 March – Monday 1 April.

Books and Stationery

  • By now you should have received your stationery packs. Please check the order carefully so you can chase up any missing items with the company before the term begins.
  • Please ensure that all items are clearly named as this will assist the students with their organisation in the classroom.
  • We kindly ask that you do not cover the exercise books as we have made subject specific covers in class. Having said that, if books have already been covered, we will assist your child in class to add the class cover.
  • A large, soft pencil case is recommended to keep all the spare stationery (pens, pencils, erasers and the like), safe until they are needed. Shared stationery (glue sticks, scissors, etc) will be provided in class.
  • Families may drop off student books on Monday 29 January between 2pm and 3pm. Teachers will also be available at this time.

Uniform

  • The children are required to wear their sport uniform to school on the following days for PE lessons:
  • 5D Wednesday and Thursday
  • 5B Tuesday and Thursday
  • 5C Monday and Wednesday
  • Formal uniform is to be worn to school on all other days. Please note – students will need to bring their sports clothes to change into on these days if involved in after school sporting activities.
  • Please ensure your child has a named Pulteney play hat. Play hats are required every day at school and must be worn at Recess and Lunch when the UV rating is 3 or above.

Brain food and drink

Please pack a healthy snack/brain food for children to eat in class. This snack could consist of fresh fruit or vegetables, cheese, yoghurt, or dried fruit. No processed food please. Please send a drink bottle containing water for your child to drink during class time.

Please be aware Pulteney is a nut aware school, so nuts or nut products are not to be brought to school.
