What will be in the course?

Year 10 Art 2D/3D gives students the opportunity to explore both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art practices through practical, creative, and investigative learning. Students work across a range of areas such as drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media and installation, depending on the focus of the semester, developing both artistic and craft-based skills.

The course focuses on the full creative process, from the development of initial ideas through to the production of resolved practical outcomes. Students research artists and themes, experiment with materials and techniques, and refine their work through ongoing problem-solving and decision-making.

Art encourages students to think visually and conceptually, exploring how ideas, themes and personal experiences can be communicated through different forms of visual language. Students learn to take creative risks, test possibilities, and strengthen their technical skills through experimentation and refinement.

This subject prepares students for senior Visual Art pathways by building confidence, independence and creative thinking. It suits students who enjoy practical learning, working with a variety of materials, and developing original ideas through making and reflection.
