Swimming Carnival 

The Annual Swimming Carnival will once again be held at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre (Marion) in Week 2 of Term 3, on Wednesday 29 July. Students and staff will travel to and from the event by bus.

This promises to be a fun and exciting event, and all students are expected to attend. Further information will be provided in Week 1 of Term 3.

Volleyball

As the term came to a close, our volleyball teams took to the court one final time before a well-earned break. Despite the fatigue that naturally comes at the end of a busy term, our students showed great resilience and determination, producing some outstanding performances across the program.

The boys had plenty to celebrate. The U19B1 side suffered an uncharacteristic defeat and will be eager to respond when competition resumes in Term 3. The highlight of the round came from the U19B2 team, who secured their first victory of the season with a fantastic all-round team performance. Every player contributed, with moments of individual brilliance helping the team earn a well-deserved win.

The U17B1 team continued their excellent run of form, recording another dominant 3-0 victory, while the U15B1 squad also finished the term strongly with an impressive straight-sets win to head into the holidays full of confidence.

On the girls’ side, the U19G1 team had the bye, while the U17G1 team finished the term with a tough loss. The holiday break came at the right time, providing an opportunity to reset and return refreshed for the second half of the season. The U15G1 team continued their outstanding improvement, making it three consecutive wins. Their focus on service accuracy throughout training was on full display, with consistent serving pressure proving to be a key factor in another excellent victory.

There is plenty to be excited about as we pass the halfway point of the season. Four of our seven teams currently sit in medal contention, reflecting the hard work and commitment shown across the entire program. The U15B1 and U17B1 teams both hold second place on their respective ladders, the U19G1 team sits in third, while the U15G1 team has been outstanding and currently leads the competition in first place. Just as encouraging, our remaining teams are continuing to improve each week and are well placed to push their way back into medal contention during the second half of the season.

We hope everyone enjoyed a well-earned break. As competition resumes in Week 1 of Term 3, we’re looking forward to seeing all of our teams return refreshed, re-energised, and ready for another exciting term of volleyball. Keep up the great work, and good luck for the remainder of the season!

SWC Volleyball

In the final week of Term 2, our Year 9/10 Boys Volleyball team travelled to Heathfield to compete in the Statewide Schools Competition Finals after earning their place through an impressive qualifying campaign. With the state’s best teams assembled, the boys knew they were in for a challenging day of volleyball.

Their opening match saw them take on long-time rivals Immanuel. Having previously gone 0-6 against Immanuel across recent school competitions, there was plenty of motivation to rewrite the script. The boys rose to the occasion, displaying outstanding composure and teamwork to claim the opening set 25-23. They backed it up in the second set, holding their nerve in the closing stages to secure another 25-23 victory and complete one of the program’s biggest wins to date.

The second pool match was against tournament powerhouse Heathfield. After a terrific start, Pulteney couldn’t quite maintain the momentum, with Heathfield proving too strong. The result saw the boys finish second in their pool and advance to a semi-final against the reigning champions, Brighton.

In one of their best performances of the season, the boys left everything on the court. They matched Brighton point for point across both sets and pushed the eventual finalists all the way, narrowly missing out on a place in the championship match.

Determined to finish the day strongly, the team produced a dominant performance in the third-place playoff to secure the bronze medal and finish third in the state—an outstanding achievement and a testament to the continued growth and success of Pulteney’s volleyball program.

Congratulations to all of the students involved for their commitment, resilience and teamwork throughout the tournament. A special thank you also goes to Coach Will for his outstanding leadership and guidance on the day. This result is something the entire volleyball program can be incredibly proud of.

Basketball

We hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and well-earned holiday break. It’s great to welcome all of our players, coaches, and families back for Term 3 as we prepare for an exciting second half of the basketball season.

Games resume this Saturday, 25 July, and we’re looking forward to seeing all of our teams back on court refreshed, energised and ready to build on the excellent progress made throughout the first half of the year.
