Middle School, Term 2 Week 4 2026

Our Middle School teaching and learning programs are continuing to build strong momentum, with students actively engaged across all learning disciplines. It has been pleasing to see the positive energy, commitment and growing confidence students are demonstrating across their learning.

As assessment schedules continue throughout the term, we encourage students to regularly check their assessment calendars and Canvas pages to support effective organisation, planning and time management.

Through our recent Middle School Assembly structures, we have also been focusing on the role of feedback and how students can use it to inform growth and progress with their learning. These conversations continue through the collaborative support of subject teachers, Tutors and Heads of House as they work closely with students around academic progress, learning habits and understanding.

This Thursday, our Middle School students will participate in the next Rungie Cup event, with students engaging in the rowing competition. Students are encouraged to wear their House tops with their PE uniform for the day. As we are also in Photo Week, please ensure students bring the appropriate formal uniform required for any scheduled photos.

National Reconciliation Week at Pulteney – Week 7

As part of National Reconciliation Week, students from ELC to Year 12 will contribute to a whole-school paper chain project symbolising our shared commitment to reconciliation. Each class will create a link using the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, with students adding their name or a message of reflection.

Badge making will also take place in the Quad during recess and lunch on Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 June, with a gold coin donation available for those who wish to contribute.

Key events include:

• Senior School Assembly – Tuesday 2 June, 8.45am (special guest speaker)
• Middle School Assembly – Thursday 4 June, 8.45am
• Junior School Chapel Service – Friday 5 June (paper chain display and celebration)

We look forward to coming together as a community to take part in this important week.

Timing of Activities

Please note that while National Reconciliation Week officially begins earlier through Reconciliation Australia, Pulteney’s whole-school activities will commence from Monday 1 June. This timing allows our community to fully engage in both Founders’ Day and the School Musical Production in Week 6.

Year 9 AMPed: Learning Through Service, Connection and Purpose

The past fortnight saw our Year 9 students engage in the AMPed, Act with Meaning and Purpose – Education through Service Learning, Program, the alternate week to camp. They stepped beyond the classroom and into the heart of our city community as the immersive experience is designed to help students develop the capabilities of empathy, social awareness, leadership, and initiative through authentic service and real-world learning.

Throughout the program, students worked alongside a range of community partners including The Salvation Army, Anglicare, Hutt St Centre, WestCare, Resthaven, and the City of Adelaide, engaging with people and organisations who are making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Students began the week by hearing directly from community leaders and volunteers, challenging their assumptions and helping them better understand the experiences of vulnerable members of our community. Through reflective activities such as “I used to know… now I know…”, students were challenged to consider their personal responsibility to be of  service in the community.

Across the week experience, students participated in one of two service-learning pathways.

In our Community Catering stream, students will developed practical life skills as they learn professional cooking techniques, budgeting, menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen safety. Working both on campus and in commercial kitchens, students collaborated in teams to design and prepare meals for up to 100 people through the Mary Magdalene Centre Saturday Night Dinner program and the Salvation Army Wednesday Night Dinner service. From knife skills workshops to purchasing ingredients in the city and presenting meals with professionalism and care, students experienced firsthand how food can bring dignity, connection, and community.

In our Community Connection stream, students engaged in a range of intergenerational and social impact experiences. They visited aged care residents at Resthaven, worked with younger learners in our ELC through reading and Bush Kindy activities, participated in wellbeing sessions such as Tai Chi with community members, and helped assemble emergency care packs for people experiencing homelessness. Students also visited the Hutt St Centre and Westcare to better understand local challenges related to housing insecurity, aging, and social isolation.

Beyond service, students were challenged to think critically and creatively. Through explicit skill workshops, budgeting challenges, community research, environmental volunteering in the City Nature Challenge, and collaborative problem-solving tasks, students learnt that meaningful action requires both compassion and practical thinking and action.

Throughout the experience, students documented their journey through video storytelling, photography, group presentations, and personal reflections. Their sizzle reels and recorded reflections captured not only what they did, but who they became through the process.

AMPed is more than a program—it is an invitation for our young people to recognise their capacity to contribute, connect, and lead with purpose. It was amazing to see our Year 9 students discover that learning has its greatest impact when it is used in service of others.

Tuesday 2 June 2026: The 2027 Year 10-12 Senior Subject Showcase

The Senior Subject Showcase, held from 5.30pm, is designed to assist students in making thoughtful and informed choices in designing their study pathway to further their passions.

Current Year 9, 10 and 11 students and their parents are strongly encouraged to attend the evening as it will assist in making well-considered choices for future study.
