The Principal, Term 2 Week 1 2026

Momentum, Purpose, and the Term Ahead

I hope the past few weeks have provided our community with the opportunity to rest, recharge, and enjoy valuable time with family and friends. It has been a pleasure to welcome students and staff back to school, seeing the campus come alive once again through connection, preparation, and that familiar sense of shared energy.

There is something distinctly special about the beginning of Term 2. It is a time to settle into learning with purpose, to build momentum, and to refocus on the goals set earlier in the year. It is also an opportunity for each student to make the most of the many possibilities that lie ahead.

At Pulteney, our commitment to academic excellence remains central to everything we do. We hold high expectations because we believe in every student’s capacity to grow and succeed. Equally important is the encouragement for each young person to strive for their personal best, not in comparison to others, but in pursuit of their own progress and achievement. This is why truly knowing our students matters so much. When students feel understood, supported, and appropriately challenged, learning becomes something they value deeply.

While the classroom is at the heart of this journey, it is only one part of a much broader educational experience. Over the holiday break, we saw inspiring examples of learning beyond the classroom. Students who participated in the Chinese Cultural Trip immersed themselves in language and culture, gaining authentic insights and expanding their global perspectives. Similarly, those involved in the ANZAC Commemorative Music Tour to the United Kingdom represented our school with pride, connecting with history and service through performance in ways that will remain with them for years to come.

These experiences are integral to a Pulteney education. They are not extras; they are essential in shaping a learning journey that is rich, meaningful, and memorable. Learning takes place in many settings, within classrooms, on stages, on the sporting field, through service, and across the world.

This breadth of opportunity continues throughout the term ahead. Our School Musical is already taking shape through rehearsals, and there are numerous opportunities in sport, the arts, service, and leadership. It is my hope that every student finds something that excites and inspires them, something that fosters connection and a strong sense of purpose.

Because ultimately, this is what it means to be ‘Navy Blue’. It is about belonging. It is about being known, seen, and supported within a community that values each individual.

I encourage every student to embrace the opportunities available to them, to step outside their comfort zone, to take considered risks, and to remain committed to their learning journey.

To our staff, thank you for the care, expertise, and energy you bring each day. To our families, thank you for your ongoing partnership and support, it truly makes a difference.

I look forward to the term ahead and all that we will achieve together as a community.
