Strength and Conditioning sessions

Our athletes who have been participating in the recent gym program over the past 3 months, have been doing an incredible job, and from a Cross-Country season perspective, these runners have shown massive improvements from holding posture, and form in the latter stages of their running, when fatigued. The gym training has complimented the track training nicely.

Whilst we keep the strength relative to the sports they participate in, there is a universal manner in how we have been continuing our strength phases, with a more of an eccentric (lengthening movement) focus in recent times, and continuing with correct joint movement, into end position. Along with core strength, and accessory exercises. Whilst utilising other exercises focusing on creating, absorbing and releasing force in an ‘explosive’ manner.

Both Josh and I enjoy the time spent educating the group in gym etiquette and practices, and hope the athletes are enjoying their experience.

For the upcoming school holidays in late September/early October, we are looking at putting gym sessions in place over that two-week school break. Please confirm the sessions/dates that you would commit to attend, if you are interested in participating over this period:

1st week:

Tuesday, 29th September = 3pm – 4.30pm
Thursday, 1st October = 3pm – 4.30pm

2nd week:

Tuesday, 6th October = 3pm – 4.30pm
Thursday, 8th October = 3pm – 4.30pm

**or please advise if not interested, or able to attend over the school holiday break.

Please advise Shane Danaher, or Josh Lasscock before cob on Friday 28 August 2026, and we will be able to advise the sessions going ahead from the proposed dates/times above.

We will advise of confirmed sessions based on numbers by the week ending, Thursday 10 September 2026, to provide more than enough time to confirm relevant information in a prompt timeframe.

Volleyball

Six out of our seven Pulteney Volleyball teams made it through to the semi-finals on Friday night – a fantastic achievement and a clear reflection of the continued growth of our program.

It was a huge night of volleyball, with all semi-finals played as untimed, best-of-five-set matches. This meant games could run for up to two and a half hours – and some certainly did!

Our teams showed tremendous fight and commitment throughout the night:

  • U17B1 — narrowly defeated 2–3 in a gruelling five-set battle.
  • U19B1 — defeated 0–3, battling through a number of injuries. A special thank you to Phil R and Oli TP for stepping up and supporting the team.
  • U19G1 — defeated 0–3.
  • U17G1 — defeated 0–3.
  • U15G1 — defeated 1–3.

While the results didn’t fall our way, we couldn’t be more proud of these groups. The improvement across the Pulteney Volleyball program is clear to see.

In just three years, we have gone from one team making finals in 2024 to six teams making finals in 2026. That growth doesn’t happen by accident. It is the result of the commitment of our students, coaches and families, and the growing culture around volleyball at Pulteney.

Congratulations

A huge congratulations to our U15B1 team, who produced a fantastic 3–2 semi-final victory to book their place in the Grand Final this Friday.

They are now our only team remaining in the competition, and we want to see the whole Pulteney Volleyball community behind them as they take on the final challenge of the season.

One team. One more game. Let’s get behind the U15B1s and help get them over the line!

Thank You

To all of the teams who have now finished their season – thank you.

To our players, parents and coaches, your effort, commitment, passion and attitude throughout the season do not go unnoticed. The results are only one small part of the positive impact you are all having on the Pulteney Volleyball program.

The growth we’ve seen from 2024 to 2026 is something everyone involved should be incredibly proud of.

U19B1 L 0-3
U17B1 L 2-3
U15B1 W 3-2
U19G1 L 0-3
U17G1 L 0-3
U15G1 L 1-3
