Middle School Anglican Cup

The 2025 Middle School Summer Anglican Cup was closely contested across six sports, with Woodcroft claiming their third straight win. Pulteney delivered several standout performances, finishing third overall with 38 points, just one point behind second place St John’s Grammar.

Pulteney’s strongest results came in cricket, where both the boys’ and girls’ teams performed consistently, earning a combined 12 points, and in volleyball, where they achieved an impressive 17 points, highlighted by multiple wins in the boys’ competition and strong showings in the girls’ draw. Pulteney also picked up important points in touch football, table tennis, and had competitive outings in tennis, despite tough matchups.

While Pulteney did not take the overall cup, their strong performances in cricket and volleyball showcased depth across teams and kept them firmly in contention throughout the day.

A big thank you to all teachers and coaches for their support throughout the day, the P&F committee for running the barbeque and snacks. Lastly, a special shoutout to the grounds team for providing the students with exceptional playing surfaces, and the property and facilities team for their work in the setup and pack-down of the event.

Rowing

West Lakes Regatta

The Pulteney crews enjoyed an energetic and rewarding day on the water, with many athletes delivering their best performances of the season. From our emerging Year 8 and 9 rowers through to our senior competitors, the regatta showcased technical progress, determination, and strong team spirit.

The day began with the Schoolgirl Year 7/8 Coxed Quad, who approached their racing with confidence and grit. After a steady row in their heat, the crew of Hannah Lyttle, Freya Hall, Celeste Williams, and Ava Livesey, coxed by Victoria Staniszewski, produced an excellent performance to win the C Final. Their composed finish highlighted the improvement they have shown under coaches Lucy Seppelt and Hana Melzer.

The Schoolboy Year 8 division brought more success. The Pulteney Number 1 crew of Jordan Bollinger, Eli Kennison, Lachie Bedson, and Ashton Tan, coxed by Lucy Seppelt, impressed early with a strong win in their heat. They carried that momentum into a highly competitive A Final, securing a well-earned second place. The Number 2 crew demonstrated terrific perseverance, using their heat experience to regroup and claim a confident victory in the D Final.

In the senior girls’ ranks, the Under 19 Women’s Coxed Four of Christiana Staniszewski, Imogen Blachly, Lois Darker, Rhiannon Sandow (inv), coxed by Nektaria Mavragelos rowed a solid race to finish fourth in their final. Meanwhile, our Under 17 single scullers, Eli Kennison and Xavier Lee, tackled their divisions with determination, with Xavier securing third place in Division 1—an excellent learning experience over the full 2km course.

The Schoolboy Coxed Four continued the trend of strong senior results. Vivaan Chandra, Georgios Mavragelos, Alex Smith, and Xavier Lee, coxed by Xavier Bucciarelli, worked hard to take second in their final—a promising sign as the season builds.

In the small boats, Pulteney’s Under 17 scullers again displayed excellent skill and composure. Christiana Staniszewski placed third in her single scull division, showing consistency in her form. The Under 17 Men’s Double Scull events also brought highlights, with Eli Kennison and Xavier Lee claiming an outstanding Division 1 victory. The remaining Pulteney doubles produced committed performances, with Ashton Tan and Leo Ying-Papps placing third in Division 2, and Jordan Bollinger and Lachie Bedson showing strong teamwork in a competitive Division 1 field.

Overall, it was a positive and highly encouraging outing for all Pulteney rowers. The results across the day reflect the growing confidence of each crew and the dedication of our athletes and coaches. A warm welcome to Mr Jack Garrad, Head of Sport, who spent his Saturday at the regatta offering encouragement and support.

Thank you to all the parents and supporters whose commitment continues to strengthen the Pulteney Boat Club and contribute to our success. We look forward to building on this momentum as the season progresses.
