2026 Athletics Carnival

The Pulteney Athletics Carnival was an amazing day and a fantastic celebration of our school community. It was wonderful to see all students giving their best in every event and supporting one another so positively. I was particularly impressed by the energy and house pride on display during the tug of war matches, where students showed incredible enthusiasm, teamwork and spirit!

A sincere thank you to our Principal, Greg Atterton, Deputy Principal, Deb Dalwood, the Heads of House, all staff who assisted with events and duties on the day, the Sports Department, Parents and Friends BBQ, and our dedicated Ground Staff, whose support and hard work made the day such a special success.

Congratulations to Moore-Sunter for taking out the Championship!

 Cricket – Girls

Week 6 match report.

Friday 6/3/2026
PGS 4/48 lost to Walford 2/70

We won the toss and Tilly Boucher elected to bat. Elloise Dodd got the call up to opening position and did not disappoint. Elloise put on a great partnership with Tilly Boucher, with both girls being retired after their 20 balls. They ran well between wickets and played some nice shots. Maddy Bryant and Clara Miegel also played some lovely cricket shots when they came to the crease, and it was fantastic to see Isla Cross score her first boundary for the side. Unfortunately, Walford had one incredibly strong batter who contributed 35 out of the 42 runs which Walford scored off the bat. This batter was the difference between the two sides. Despite her strength, our girls bowled well, and also fielded very well. It was fantastic to see Maddy Bryant and Clara Miegel both clean bowl batters. Our thanks go to both Maddy and Tilly for taking on the keeping duties.

Girls Basketball

The final game for the Middle C team was played last week and what an end to the season. Despite struggling to find a win all term, the girls consistently showed up with great determination and a desire to compete. With a few of our junior school girls filling in, the energy was electric. The girls started strong and didn’t look back. Claiming a commanding 18-12 win and finishing the term with a fantastic result. Thankyou to year 6 students Chloe L and Amelia T for helping over the last few weeks.

Lukass Blicavs – Head of Basketball / Volleyball

Boys Volleyball

A top of the table clash for our Senior As was played last Friday against powerhouse Immanuel. In what was a fiercely competitive match in front of a raucous home crowd, the boys showed their nerves and gave up an early 8-2 lead. A late surge and strong service run by Steven L saw the boys come close but lose the first set. The second set brought more urgency and intensity and although an early deficit occurred, the boys fought back and tied the game up 1 set all. Leading to a deciding 3rd set, the boys started well, but couldn’t quite hold on, losing a fantastic display of volleyball 2 sets to 1. This effectively became the grand final match for the term in the SAAS division 1 competition, so for these boys to finish 2nd overall is a great achievement. Well done to all players and coaches.

AFL

Congratulations to Anika Tran who has been selected into the South Australian U16 Girls team who will defend its AFLW National Championship in April.

Good Luck Anika!

 Athletics

Tilly Williams competed at the SA State Championships over the weekend and delivered an outstanding performance, winning three gold medals to become the State Champion in the 800m, 400m, and 1500m events — adding to her 3000m title from a fortnight ago. She recorded times of 2:11.14 (800m), 58.99 (400m), and 4:25.37 (1500m), with her 1500m result qualifying as a World Junior standard by two seconds!

Tennis

Congratulations to Ava Moukachar (Year 9) and Harry Hockley (Year 12), who represented the school in the 7–12 Tennis State Championships last Week. Competing in Division 1, Ava progressed to the semifinals, where she was narrowly defeated by the top seed. Harry made it through to the quarter finals and unfortunately was defeated by the eventual Tier 2 winner.

Furthermore Harry was also a part of the Glenelg District Tennis Association team that won the Less Tapp Open over the long weekend!

Incredible effort Ava and Harry! Well done.

Head of the River – Pulteney Ready for the State’s Biggest School Regatta

This Saturday, Pulteney Grammar crews will take to the water at West Lakes for the South Australian Schools’ Head of the River Regatta — the pinnacle event of the school rowing season.

With over 1,100 student athletes competing, and set against one of the most beautiful sporting venues in the state, the SA Head of the River is widely regarded as the most attended school sporting event in South Australia. Thousands of spectators line the banks of the course each year to watch the racing and support their school communities.

For Pulteney rowers, this event represents the culmination of months of early mornings, disciplined training and steady improvement across the entire squad. From our youngest Year 7 crews to the senior First Fours, our students will proudly represent the Navy Blues in what promises to be an exciting day of racing.

Pulteney’s first race of the day begins at 8.55am, when our Year 7/8 Boys Coxed Quad takes to the water. Racing continues throughout the morning with strong representation from our junior and intermediate crews.

The regatta builds toward the feature races of the day — the prestigious First Four events, where Pulteney’s senior crews will compete against the leading rowing schools in the state. The Schoolboy First Four races at 12.35pm, followed closely by the Schoolgirl First Four at 12.40pm.

The senior races are the centrepiece of the regatta and the culmination of months of commitment from athletes, coaches and families.

The Pulteney community is warmly encouraged to come along and support our crews. The atmosphere at the Head of the River is always electric, and the encouragement from the banks makes a real difference to the athletes on the water. The Pulteney Drum Corps will also be in attendance to support our rowers and families, helping to create a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day. The Pulteney tents will be located to the south of the Rowing SA buildings, approximately halfway along the beach, providing a central gathering point for our community.

Students attending the regatta as spectators are reminded that they must attend in full summer school uniform including blazer.
