Sport: Junior School, Term 3 Week 5 2026

We have now reached the final week of our Year 3-6 winter competitions and training sessions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our students, families and coaches for their wonderful contribution to what has been a fantastic winter season. The enthusiasm, commitment and sportsmanship shown throughout the season has been terrific. A reminder that following the completion of winter sport, there will be no Junior School sport training sessions until summer pre-season in Week 8 and 9, except for Athletics and Martial Arts, which will continue as scheduled.

Congratulations

Basketball

A huge congratulations to our Year 6 Basketball teams who competed in the Statewide Cup (Small Schools)!

Our Boys team, Elias, Benji, Alan, Eddie, Charlie, Jordan and Harvey, had an outstanding day, defeating Gilles St, Norwood PS, Forbes PS and Parkside PS before taking on Warradale PS in the crossover final. The boys secured an impressive 34–23 victory, earning their place at the Statewide Finals in October! Our Girls team, Aria, Maddison, Ruby, Saskia, Chloe, Chloe, Amelia and Millie, also competed strongly, winning two of their five matches to finish fourth on the day.

Well done to all our Year 6 students for their incredible effort and teamwork. We are very proud of you all!

Good luck to our Boys team at the Statewide Finals!

Athletics

Last Friday, 28 members of our Junior School Athletics team competed at the SAPSASA Track and Field Championships, representing the school with great enthusiasm and determination.

A huge well done to Alan C, who was the fastest 100m heat winner and went on to achieve 1st place in the 12-year-old 100m event. This result provides Alan with the opportunity to progress to the SAPSASA State Track and Field Championships on Thursday 2 September.

Other top-three results included Millie V, who placed 2nd in both the 12-year-old 1500m and 800m events, potentially earning her a place at the next stage. Jumela J also finished 2nd in the 12-year-old 200m event.

In the 10-year-old events, Klara W placed 3rd in both the Shot Put and Discus — a fantastic achievement in her first Track and Field competition. Emma S also achieved 3rd place in the 200m. These are excellent results for our 10-year-old athletes, particularly given the nerves that can come with competing at this level.

The 10-year-old relay team also finished 3rd, another fantastic achievement. Congratulations to Klara, Zoe, Mila and Emma on their efforts and to all 28 students who represented the Junior School so well.

12 years and under State Team trials

If you child is interested in trialling for a 12 and Under State Team in their chosen sport, please visit the SA School Sport website to find more information. Nominations and trials are done externally and are not school based activities.
