Sport: Junior School, Term 3 Week 1

Welcome back to all our Junior School students and families. I hope everyone had a wonderful mid-year break and managed to stay warm. All Junior Sport training resumes this week from Reception to Year 6 with some matches (Year 3-6) also getting underway (check the Parent Portal for individual team fixtures).

Winter Sport (Year 3-6)

A reminder that all Year 3-6 competitive winter sporting teams (hockey, football, netball and soccer) finish at the end of Week 5. There will then be a two-week period (Week 6 and 7) of no Year 3-6 sport (other than athletics and martial arts) while we prepare to change over to summer sport. Week 8 and Week 9 will see training resume for our Term 4 summer sports. Further information will be communicated to families with clarification of this prior to Week 5.

SAPSASA

Athletics

The East Adelaide SAPSASA Athletics trials will be held on Friday 23 August at Bridgestone Stadium. Further information will be sent to families once team selection has been finalised in coming weeks.

Swimming

Jaime T (5B) will represent SA in the School Sport Australia Swimming National Competition this week in the Gold Coast. Jaime is competing in 7 events in her age group and we wish her all the best for the meet.

 

Statewide Cup
Netball

The Year 5/6 Boys Statewide Schools Netball will play Woodcroft College in the second round of the competition this Wednesday. We wish them all the best.

Soccer

The Year 5/6 Boys Statewide Schools Soccer team will play their second round match earlier this term (prior to Week 4). Information will be sent to families as soon as fixtures have been confirmed.

Basketball

They Year 5/6 Boys and Girls basketball teams will have their first round matches on Tuesday 6 August at Wayville Stadium. Further information will be sent to families once team selection has been finalised.

12 years and under State Team trials
If you child is interested in trialling for a 12 and Under State Team in their chosen sport, please click here to find more information. Nominations and trials are done externally and are not school based activities.

Interschool Snow Sports

Congratulations to Eli (6M) and Reuben (3S) who competed in the Interschools Snow Sport competition last week at Falls Creek. Both boys finished 4th in the Giant Slalom event and Eli 3rd and Reuben 4th in the Skier Cross. Well done boys!
