Junior School Athletics Carnival Recap
The Junior School Athletics Carnival was held across three action-packed days, beginning with the field events on Monday. Based on the rainfall predictions, it looked as though the ovals may have been underwater, but fortunately the rain never arrived and we were able to proceed as planned. Since the inception of Junior School record keeping in 2025, several impressive new field event records were set. In the 10-year-old age group, Phu L set a new Discus record with 17.85m, Max A broke both the Long Jump (3.30m) and Shot Put (6.50m) records, and Zoe P cleared 1.00m to set a new High Jump record. In the 11-year-old age group, Jimmy G threw 13.80m in the Discus, Chloe P set a new Shot Put record with 7.11m, and Olivia M cleared 1.10m in the High Jump. The 12-year-old age group also produced outstanding performances, with Harvey S throwing 6.35m in the Shot Put, Millie V setting records in both the Discus (13.51m) and High Jump (1.15m), and Ruby B breaking records in the Long Jump (3.57m) and Shot Put (6.20m).

Tuesday saw the running of the 400m and 800m finals, along with the 100m and 200m heats, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion to the carnival.

Friday was the big day, and the weather was perfect for a fantastic day of athletics. It was wonderful to see so many parents out supporting the students and cheering them on throughout the day. Congratulations to all the Individual Age Champions and to Bleby-Howard who won Hooper Shield as overall Athletics Carnival Champions. Well done also goes to Cawthorne-Nicholls for winning the Bill Davis Cup to recognise exceptional House Spirit throughout the carnival. A huge thank you also goes to all the staff who helped make the carnival such a success, no doubt many of them slept very well on Friday night after a busy and rewarding week!
