Senior School, Term 4 Week 8 2025

Our final week for the year is certainly a full one. I hope your family enjoy the experiences on offer as we conclude the 2025 academic year.

Wednesday 3 & Thursday 4 DecemberYear 11 Big Day In and Service Day

All Year 11 students will participate in the annual Big Day In, an event aimed at introducing them to their Stage 2 studies for 2026. The program includes sessions led by subject teachers, designed to help students begin their Year 12 journey and gain a clear understanding of the year ahead.

Students are to wear their summer uniform on Wednesday.

In addition, students will take part in Service Day, a meaningful initiative dedicated to supporting those in need during the holiday season. Led by Rev. Harris, this activity fosters a sense of community, generosity, and stronger connections among peers. While most of the activities will be held on campus, there will be a few brief outings within the CBD, conducted under the School’s Local Area Consent guidelines.

Students can wear their PE Uniform on Thursday.

It is not too late to drop off any final items and students are asked to bring donations to assist this cause with information provided HERE.

Thursday 4 December: Year 10 Activities Day

As part of our end-of-year program, the Year 10 students will take part in a dedicated day of activities designed to help them finish the year positively. This day will provide opportunities for students to engage with their peers, participate in a range of collaborative and team-based activities, and enjoy constructive social interactions in a supportive environment. This will give Year 10s the opportunity to end the year feeling connected and supported.

Students are to wear PE Uniform on this day.

 Friday 6 December: Final Day

Students will have a modified timetable on the final day of School. Year 11 students will have an opportunity to discuss recent exams with their teachers and Year 10s will have a final lesson with the majority of their subject teachers. All students will have a final tutor period after lunch before attending Final Assembly from 2.30pm.

Year 10AMP: Developing Metacognition Through Movement, Connection and Creativity

Across Terms 1-3, students in the 10AMP program have engaged in a structured exploration of metacognition – building their capacity to think about their thinking, make purposeful decisions, and transfer learning across diverse contexts. Using physical activity as the core learning environment, the program has encouraged students to recognise how planning, reflection, problem-solving and adaptation influence their performance, collaboration and wellbeing.

This term, students in Year 10AMP have applied these skills through four targeted projects that were chosen by the students, where each designed to highlight a different dimension of movement and its broader impact.

Movement and Competition – Year 7 Sports Day
Students examined how personal strengths, team roles and strategic decision-making contribute to successful event organisation. By planning and facilitating elements of the Year 7 Sports Day, they considered how preparation, communication and in-the-moment decision making shape participation and engagement.

Movement and Connection – Old Scholar Engagement
In this project, students explored the role movement plays in building community and strengthening belonging. Through designing activities and initiatives to connect current students with Old Scholars, they reflected on how shared physical experiences can foster relationships across generations and contribute to a positive school culture.

Literacy and Meaning – Children’s Book Development

Students shifted their focus to creative communication, using research and meaningful connection as inspiration for storytelling. By designing and drafting children’s books, they explored how foundational concepts can be expanded on and translated into accessible narratives, requiring careful consideration of audience, clarity, and purpose. The Year 10 students then had the opportunity to present their completed story books and read them with students in the ELC.

Movement and Wellbeing – Campaign Design
Students investigated how physical activity influences wellbeing and how campaigns can encourage positive health behaviours. Their task required them to analyse barriers and enablers, craft key messages and develop strategies to promote meaningful and sustainable engagement in movement.
