Senior School, Term 3 Week 9 2026
We have had an eventful week in the Senior School with students and staff making the most of the opportunities available at Pulteney. Please note the following:
Thursday 10 September: Paul Dillon Visit
Our recent visit from Paul Dillon from Drug and Alcohol Research Training Australia (DARTA) was a great success. Paul worked with students across all year levels of the Senior School, leading a series of engaging and thought provoking conversations around drug and alcohol education.
Pulteney has worked with Paul for a number of years, and once again our students found the sessions both worthwhile and engaging. The conversations provided students with the opportunity to consider the choices they make, the influence of others and the importance of making informed decisions.
We thank Paul for another valuable day with our Senior School students.
Friday 18 September: RU OK? Day and World’s Greatest Shave School Fundraiser
On Friday of Week 9 there will be a “splash of yellow” casual clothes day with a $2 donation.
We encourage all students get involved on the day to help raise funds and awareness of the RU OK? Foundation and the Leukaemia Foundation. On the day there will be a bake sale along with lolly bags for sale in the quad. There will also be live music, picnic blankets to sit on and games available for students to partake in. All funds collected on the day will be donated to the RU OK? Foundation, and to the Leukaemia Foundation.
Support for this year’s World’s Greatest Shave has been amazing, with more than 40 students and staff signing up to be involved. So far, our Pulteney community has raised more than $36,000, and with three days still to go, we are hopeful of exceeding $40,000.
With so many students involved, we have staged the hair cutting over two days, with some students having their hair cut or shaved at Senior School Assembly today. The event, organised by our School leaders, was a huge success, with a fantastic atmosphere and tremendous support from students and staff for such a worthy cause.
We look forward to seeing the remainder of our participants take part on the deck at lunchtime on Friday for R U OK? Day.
There are some guidelines that students need to adhere to, mostly due to health and safety requirements. Please refer to the following so that it can be an enjoyable and safe day for all:
- Shoulders must be covered (i.e. no strapless or singlet tops to be worn)
- Slogans and logos must not be offensive
- Shoes must cover feet properly (i.e. no thongs or ugg-boots)
- No heavy make-up (as per normal School expectations)
- Different jewellery may be worn, but still only one set of earrings
- Long hair must be tied back (as per normal School expectations)
- The day is not a costume or dress-up day ie. no ‘onesies’, no pyjamas
If your child has PE on the day, they are still expected to wear appropriate clothes for exercising in, although this may be non-PE uniform sports clothes. We look forward to an enjoyable day whilst raising important funds.
Year 12 Valedictory Day
Valedictory Day is a cherished occasion for our graduating students, their families, and the extended Pulteney community, offering a time to reflect, reminisce, and congratulate our Year 12 students on their achievements.
Friday 23 October – Breakfast, Assembly, and Valedictory Service
Dress Code
Students are required to wear their full Senior School formal uniform, including a blazer and Year 12 tie. Please note that students wearing Year 12 jumpers will not be permitted to participate in the ceremonies.
Families are warmly invited to attend the Morning Tea and Valedictory Service. We are delighted to extend the invitation to grandparents and other family members.
Valedictory Day Schedule:

| 8.30am – 9.30am | Student Assembly in Robert Henshall Sports Centre |
| 10.30am | Morning Tea for Year 12 students and their families in Sam Leaker Courtyard. |
| 11.15am | Parents assemble on the Junior School Basketball Court for the Valedictory Service entrance (Guard of Honour). |
| 11.25am | Guard of Honour. |
| 11.40am | Valedictory Service in the Robert Henshall Sports Centre (parents and families welcome). |
| 1.00pm | Approximate conclusion and dismissal. |
Friday 23 October – Pulteney P&F Association Drinks and Valedictory Dinner
All Year 12 students and their families are invited to join us for pre-dinner drinks in the Sam Leaker Courtyard at 5.00pm, hosted by the Pulteney Parents and Friends Association.
Following the gathering, Year 12 students and staff are invited to continue the evening at the Valedictory Dinner at the Adelaide Pavilion Function Centre (corner of South Terrace and Peacock Road).
Valedictory Evening Schedule:
| 5.00pm | Students, Parents and Staff are invited to drinks in Sam Leaker Courtyard |
| 5.40pm | Students assemble on the lawns of Alan Wheaton House for a cohort photo. |
| 5.50pm | Students will be escorted by foot to the dinner venue by Pulteney Staff. |
| 10.00pm | Conclusion and dismissal from the Adelaide Pavilion. Students are expected to go directly home after the event. |
Dress Code
Full Senior School formal uniform and Old Scholars tie. Invitations will be sent to students for this dinner.
Osmond St Café
This Friday, our Year 10 Creative Industries students will be opening the Osmond St Café, offering coffee along with a selection of delicious treats. Come along, grab a drink, catch up with others and support our students as they put their skills into action. We hope to see plenty of you there and look forward to welcoming you.
