What is the SACE Board of South Australia?
The SACE Board is an independent body formed by the State Government and it is responsible for:
- The development of subject outlines for a wide range of subjects designed to cater for a diversity of abilities and interests at Stage 1 and II (Years 11 and 12).
- The assessment of subjects for which it provides or approves curriculum statements.
- The issuing of the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) to all students in South Australia who satisfactorily complete the requirements of the SACE.
How do I achieve my SACE?
At Pulteney, students complete 220 SACE credits of study across the Senior School.
100 of these credits must be studied at a Stage 2 level (traditionally Year 12).
The minimum to qualify for an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Entrance Ranking) is 90 Stage 2 Credits.

At Pulteney Grammar School students traditionally complete their SACE credits in the following way:
Year 10
Year 10: 10 Stage 1 Credits (in one semester) achieved through the SACE compulsory subject Exploring Identity and Futures (EIF)
Year 11
Year 11
Students must complete a total of 120 Stage 1 or 2 Credits through a combination of year long and semesterised subjects.
Compulsory: Mathematics (numeracy) – 10 credits or 1 semester of study
Compulsory: English (Literacy) – 20 credits or a full year of study
Compulsory: 10 Stage 2 credits achieved through the SACE compulsory subject Activating Identities and Futures (AIF)
These must be completed to a C standard or better
Year 12
Year 12: 100 Stage 2 Credits achieved through 5 Year 12 subjects
