Choral Concert: Singing for Learning and Life
Yesterday we held the annual Choral Concert for all choirs from Reception to Year 12. This is an informal concert to demonstrate to our families the passage of development and work from Reception to our most Senior students, and the opportunity for all choirs to perform.
The afternoon featured the following choirs, on order of age and development:
- Junior Kurrajong Choir: directed by Narelle Steffan, with piano accompaniment by Meredith Wilson
- Junior Year 3/4 Concert Choir: directed by Michelle McGill, with piano accompaniment by Emma Knights
- Junior Year 5/6 Concert Choir: directed by Michelle McGill, with piano accompaniment by Meredith Wilson
- ManChoir: directed by Annie Kwok, with piano accompaniment by Meredith Wilson
- Grammarphones Choir: directed by Annie Kwok, with piano accompaniment by Meredith Wilson
- Jazz on the Terrace 2: directed by Katia Labozzetta, with piano accompaniment by Tom Cole
- Senior Concert Choir: directed by Annie Kwok, with piano accompaniment by Meredith Wilson
We foster an environment of confidence in performance, being expressive, understanding different stylistic requirements and presenting as part of a collective team. In addition, each choir shows the development of intonation, aural accuracy, tone production, connection of music to language, part-singing and movement. We have an exceptionally successful Junior and Senior Musical Production program, as well as small feature ensembles and vocal opportunities – these all grown from the experience and confidence gained from these foundational choirs. We thank our choral directors and piano players for their wonderful work inspiring our students.
Adelaide Lightning Games and Pulteney Grammar School Connection
Pulteney Grammar School has initiated an exciting new connection with the Adelaide Lightning Team, and part of this alliance is the opportunity for selected students to open games by performing the National Anthem as solo vocalists. This is a fabulous opportunity for our talented vocalists, and we look forward to seeing Patrick Longden, Nektaria Mavragelos, Polly Schubert, Keira Wubbolts, Darcy Carr and Dash Heffernan Lucic in action. Our Senior Drum Corps will also be bringing the energy as a feature half-time entertainment for selected games.
A Celebration of Performing Arts: Thursday 24 September (Term 3)
On Thursday 24 September, we did something that is so unusual for our Performing Arts students – we took a night off to celebrate. No performances, no rehearsals, no formal uniform, no call-times – we took an evening to celebrate our wonderful Performing Arts students and the Pulteney Performing Arts community. Students arrived looking suave and sophisticated in cocktail dress and took the rare opportunity to enjoy each other’s company and reflect on 2026. We had perfect weather, acknowledged the leadership in our students through performance and spirit excellence awards, and had the very exciting and much-anticipated reveal of the 2027 Musical Production: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! However, the most exciting event of the night was the guest performance and words of the unbelievably talented vocal group, The 60 Four, hot off the back of “The Voice: Australia” and between music shows. We were thrilled to have them as our guests and be treated to front row seats to our own live performance! Their words of wisdom and encouragement of our students were heartfelt, relevant and lasting. What a special night for all.

House Performing Arts: Friday 25 September (Term 3)
The annual House Performing Arts Competitions were held on the final day of Term 3. This is the 5th year of the event, and it is clear that it has established itself as a tradition with an underlying spirit of competition and camaraderie running through the Houses.

Many thanks to our guest judges, Laura Brougham, Lauren Hancock, Marc Anderson, Jack Garrad and Deb Dalwood, who had the nail-biting responsibility of deciding the results, Nathan Schubert and Andy Voigt for working their magic on stage set-up and sound for the day, Performing Arts staff for their support and preparation of feature ensembles, Heads of Houses and Sub-Schools, and Leadership for their support of Performing Arts at Pulteney. In our 5th year, we have not only established the event, but the message that we are a school which embraces Performing Arts, we have a go at what is new and different, and we appreciate the skills and expression which come with performing. It was an exuberant and joyful end to Term 3!
