Dance Ultra Competition – State Finals
On Tuesday 26 August (Week 6), the Senior Co-curricular Dance Troupe competed in the Ultra Dance Competition finals and came away with two shields.
- Addison Ritossa won Best Hip Hop/Jazz/Musical Theatre Solo
- The Senior Dance Troupe achieved 1st and 3rd place in the Musical Theatre Open section
- The troupe also placed 3rd in the Jazz Troupe section
These are outstanding results, and the group is now looking forward to competing at the SASDS Competition on the first weekend of the next school holidays. Competing at this level is so important and allows us to challenge ourselves, see where we stand within the state, and measure up against some of the best dance schools, many of which have established programs stretching back many years.
Congratulations to Rosanna Dobré for her choreography and leadership of this troupe; outstanding work! It was also wonderful to hear from other schools’ teachers about how well our students presented and conducted themselves throughout the event. Feedback like this makes us especially proud of our amazing students.

PESA Conference – Senior Drum Corps
A letter will be sent home this week about the Senior Drum Corps performance at the PESA Conference. It will take place at the Hilton Hotel, Victoria Square, at 8.45am on Tuesday 9 September (Week 8). Students will either walk to the hotel or use a tram and meet me out front of the hotel at 8.30am. We will then perform at 8.45am and then return to school again either by foot or tram. Consent is not required as this gig is in the CBD, but the letter will outline what is said here. The reputation of the Senior Drum Corps continues to grow. They have 10 performances between now and the last day of term 4 assembly!
2026 Pulteney Dance Showcase
Our annual Pulteney Dance Showcase is nearly upon us and is one of my favourite concerts of the year! This year it will take place on Saturday 13 September in Wyatt Hall and will showcase our Year 9 – 12 Academic Dance students and all of our amazing Dance Troupe students.
There are two performances:
- 3.00pm Matinee (Year 1 – Year 12 students)
- 7.00pm Evening (Year 3 – Year 12 students)
The Friends of Performing Arts (FoPA) will be providing a BBQ with sausages, chips/lolly cups, hot chocolates, wine and soft drinks from 4.30-7.00pm.
Seating is allocated so a ticket is a must. Please bring your ticket with you to gain entrance to the venue.
Adult tickets cost $10.00 each. Non-performing students are welcome to attend free of charge. Please note that children aged 4 and above will require their own ticket, and we kindly ask that children 3 and under sit on a parent or caregiver’s lap. Performing students do not need a ticket. If your child is performing in both concerts, you will need to purchase tickets to both.

Last Thursday night, a group students attended the opening night performance of We Will Rock You: The Musical. Two of our year 11 students, Henry Green and Patrick Longden, were lead roles and really showed their talents and skills in this production featuring so many great Queen songs. They both did an amazing job, and the audience enjoyed every minute of it. Congratulations to both Henry and Patrick.

2025 Performing Arts Dinner
The 2025 Performing Arts Dinner will take place on Thursday 25 September (Week 10) in the John Halbert Room at Adelaide Oval. Students invited to this special evening are those enrolled in Year 10-12 academic Performing Arts classes (Music, Dance, Drama), along with Year 9 students and above who are members of a senior co-curricular group such as the Senior Concert Choir, Pulteney String Orchestra, or Senior Drum Corps.
This is a wonderful opportunity for students to dress up and celebrate a year of achievements in the Performing Arts. On the night, we will present the Performing Arts Awards for PAE (Excellence in Performing Arts Award) and PAV (Values Award for Performing Arts). In addition, we will recognise the leading group/ensemble of the year, as well as present a special individual award for the most outstanding Performing Arts student of the year. Previous recipients of this award include Oscar Bridges and Taylor Schwartz.
Tickets were released last week and are $110 per student, which includes soft drinks, an alternate-drop main meal, and dessert. The evening will also feature speeches, a special presentation from guest speaker Katia Labozzetta, and of course, a dance floor for students to enjoy.
Tickets must be purchased by Friday 5 September. We hope you can support your child in attending this memorable celebration.
Coffee in the Quad/Lane
Please note that there will be no Coffee in the Quad/Lane this Friday 5 September due to the Pupil Free Day / Show Day. We hope to be back for Friday 12 September (Week 8) with the Small Jazz Ensemble then Friday 19 September (Week 9) with the Drum Corps Day!
