What a wonderful community celebration this event was last night. There was so much great music and such a wonderful atmosphere in the room. It was particularly wonderful to see so many of our younger singers and musicians coming to the fore and beginning to take over from our long-standing and outstanding Year 12 students. With more than 220 parents and friends in the room, along with 65 performing students, it was a pretty full house!
Special thanks to all the student performers and our ensemble directors for their time and effort in preparing the students to perform at such a high standard, while also having fun along the way. We’ll do it all again in Term 3, 2027!
Pulteney Dance Showcase
Next week, we present our annual Pulteney Dance Showcase on Saturday 5 September in Wyatt Hall. This event is always one of the highlights of the Performing Arts calendar.
There will be two performances:
- 2.30pm Matinee (Year 1 – Year 12 students)
- 7.00pm Evening (Year 5 – Year 12 students)
The Friends of Performing Arts will again be providing a BBQ sausage sizzle and bar between the two concerts. We warmly invite everyone to stay, enjoy a meal and a drink, and spend time with our Performing Arts community from approximately 5.00pm to 7.00pm. A bar service will also be available during the interval of both concerts. My sincere thanks to all the FoPA members for their time, effort and wonderful support.
Tickets are available now! They are limited and expected to sell quickly, so we encourage you to book early to avoid missing out. Adult tickets cost $20.00 each. Non-performing students are welcome to attend free of charge. Please note that children aged 4 and above will require their own ticket, and we kindly ask that children 3 and under sit on a parent or caregiver’s lap. Performing students do not need a ticket. If your child is performing in both concerts, you will need to purchase tickets to both. Seating is allocated, so booking early will also give you the best chance of securing your preferred seats. Walk to Defeat MND – Saturday 12 September
We are pleased to be supporting the Walk to Defeat MND event this year, with our Senior Drum Corps playing as the group of walkers make their way across the River Torrens Footbridge, heading north.
The students will bring their own drums with them and take them home at the conclusion of the event. We will walk across the bridge leading the walkers before finishing at the Southern Plaza, where parents can collect the students.
A letter with all the details will be sent home to parents and students this week. Please respond as soon as possible so we can finalise arrangements for this event. If we have enough students participating, we may also have the opportunity to do a short performance at the Adelaide Oval Southern Plaza. This is still to be confirmed.
We look forward to supporting this wonderful community event and representing Pulteney Grammar School.
Performing Arts Awards Night – Thursday 24 September
This year, the Performing Arts Awards Night will be held at school across the 175th Quad Deck and Wyatt Hall. We will have external caterers providing food and beverages, with a dance floor, music and plenty of opportunities to celebrate our wonderful Performing Arts students.
Tickets will be available for Performing Arts (Music, Dance, Drama) students in Years 10, 11 and 12, with Year 9 students who are members of senior ensembles also invited to attend. This creates a group of approximately 90 students who are eligible to attend this special evening of food, drinks, awards and fun.
The Principal and I will both speak on the night, along with a guest speaker who is still to be confirmed. There will also be many awards presented throughout the evening celebrating the achievements and contributions of our students.
Tickets will be released next week (Week 7). It is important that everyone who would like to attend purchases their ticket as soon as possible. Please do not leave this until the end of the term. We need to have sufficient ticket sales early in the ticket release period to make the event viable. If we do not reach the required number of ticket sales, the event may unfortunately need to be cancelled.
We are really looking forward to celebrating our Performing Arts students together and hope to see many of you there.
