Winter Music Festival
What a wonderful afternoon and evening of music and community!
The three concerts celebrated music from our youngest Reception students to our most senior Year 12 students. With 23 ensembles/choirs/bands performing, it was a massive day that ran as smoothly as possible, thanks to the efforts of many helpers. Special thanks to the FoPA committee who spent many hours of work in preparation of the event, as well as all afternoon and evening on Saturday. The generosity of this group of parents and Mark Bourchier is quite remarkable. On behalf of the School and Principal, I am so grateful for all that they do, especially following on from the musical production which is another huge commitment.
Thanks also to all my staff team. The work they do with our students is amazing, as all performing groups were so well prepared.
This week is a relatively quiet week as we look forward to the winter break then turn our minds towards Term 3.
If you came along to one or all three of the concerts on Saturday, thank you so much for supporting this event and your children. The audiences were so generous and supportive. I know the students had so much fun performing.
Coffee in the Lane
Come along between 7.50-8.25am, purchase a coffee and witness some beautiful morning music! We hope to see you there!

Accompanists Guild of SA Awards for Pulteney Accompanists
On Sunday 22 June, Joshua Song and Lucas Truong performed in the Young Australian Accompanists Showcase with professional trombonist Adam Draper.
The Accompanists Guild of SA select advanced piano students to work on programs with professional musicians, honing their skills as accompanists, rehearsing three times and performing in a final concert.
Under the tutelage of Meredith Wilson, both young men worked very hard to learn challenging accompaniment music for Guillmant ‘Morceau Symphonique’ and De Faye ‘Deux Dances’ respectively.
Joshua and Lucas performed exceptionally well, demonstrating their developing accompanying skills at a very high level.
Congratulations to Josh and Lucas.
Year 3C Strings and Year 5C and 5D Band Program Event
Last week’s two performances went perfectly, with all our very young musicians performing for a very supportive audience. As I mentioned at both events, if you would like your child to continue free lessons for another semester, please click here to complete the online form as soon as possible so we can plan for term 3. I hope everyone takes advantage of this wonderful opportunity. As we know, being a musician is like having a superpower, with so many adults living with the regret of not pursuing a musical instrument as a child when they had an opportunity. Special thanks to Sally McLoughlin, Sam Hicks, Lachlan McGargill, Michelle McGill and Katherine Quirk.
Year 10/11 Drama Performances
Our Year 10 and 11 drama classes presented outstanding productions last week, as their Semester 1 studies come to an end. The standard of performance was exceptional as was the wonderful audience. Special thanks to Jamie Hibbert for all she does for these students and class. Her contribution is well above what is required, and I cannot thank her enough for all the extra work she does to support the students and get these productions to such a high standard year after year.
Adelaide Youth Orchestra and Sinfonia Incursion
This Wednesday afternoon, we’re excited to welcome the Adelaide Youth Sinfonia, part of the Adelaide Youth Orchestra program, to perform here for several of our Junior School classes.
We also have several of our students who are members of this state group, and we look forward to hearing them play as part of this outstanding ensemble. Thanks to the AdYO organisation for supporting this performance here at Pulteney.
St John’s AED TVC
This Wednesday, we welcome TopBunk Video, a video production company, to the School. They will be filming part of a new St John’s Ambulance TV advertising campaign, which will feature some of our students. The film crew are here for a couple of hours to shoot two scenes for the advertisement, one on the basketball court and the other in the senior centre for learning. It should be a fun and interesting experience for the 14 students involved. I understand the advertisement will go live later in Term 3 this year.
Co-Curricular News
A reminder that all Junior School Performing Arts Co-Curricular activities have finished for this term. They will resume in Week 2, Term 3.
Semester 2 Junior Year 3/4 Drama Club & Junior Year 5/6 Drama Club will commence in Week 2, Term 3, and will run for Term 3 and Term 4.
Instrumental Music/Drama Program

Applications for this year opened in December 2024 and were finalised early Term 1, however students from Reception right through to Year 12 can enrol at any time across the year. If an instrument, type of lesson or teacher is already fully booked, we can place your child on a waiting list until a lesson becomes available.
