GIJ 2025

While it was strange to not be at GIJ this year, I know handing over the organisation of this important event to Sam Hicks was wise. Congratulations to Sam for his leadership of this year’s trip. I know the students loved the opportunity and they all performed brilliantly. The weather was perfect, and the staff (Sam Hicks, Michelle McGill, Annie Kwok and John McCall) have all reported how well behaved our students were over the whole weekend as well as how well they all performed.

I just finished listening to the recordings of the performances and I am so proud of our students. I must say that the recording of JOTT 1 was quite remarkable! The phrasing, musicality, balance and blend were all exceptional. I do not know who placed above them but given the sounds JOTT 1 made I am just so proud! Congratulations to Katia Labozzetta for preparing this group and JOTT 2 so well.

I always tell anyone who stands still how amazing my team is and again this was proven over the weekend. Special thanks to FoPA for assisting with the funding of this trip. FoPA paid $200 per student towards the costs of us going to GIJ and I know the students, their families and the school is very appreciative of this funding.

We won’t return to GIJ until 2027, as this time next year we will be in France and the UK for the 2026 ANZAC Commemorative Music Tour. Special thanks in advance to Sam Hicks for all of his work for this upcoming tour, as well as preparing the three jazz ensembles for the competition.

Instrumental Soiree #1 – Today

We start our 2025 Soiree Concert Series tonight in the Chapel. There will be two concerts, one at 5.00pm and the other at 6.00pm. We look forward to seeing our students perform as they build their resilience to public performance and develop their craft as musicians.

Urinetown the Musical – Tickets

SPECIAL TICKET RELEASE!

Side Stage Premium at $35.00 each!

These are outstanding tickets and so close to the ACTION!

These seats appear to be a ‘side-on’ view but actually provide an excellent immersive experience! Our show is directed on a thrust stage, similar to an ‘in-the-round’ style show. This means that our show isn’t directed to be simply ‘front on’ — no matter where you sit, you’ll have wonderful views.

Please scan the QR code below to purchase your tickets or click here!

Term 2 ASO Performance for ELC, Year 1 & Year 2 Students

It’s very exciting that we will be lucky enough to have the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra come to perform for our ELC and Kurrajong students in Term 2.

“Around the World Concert” will take place next week, week 3, on Tuesday 13 May in Wyatt Hall from approximately 2.00pm – 3.00pm for all ELC, Year 1 and Year 2 students.

The Pulteney Grammar School children will join JoJo, a curious bird on a global adventure, as she discovers music from different cultures while learning about the environment and the world’s changing landscapes.

With an ensemble of ASO musicians, presenter Susan Ferguson and composer Mark Ferguson leading the way, our students will discover brand new compositions, some familiar orchestral favourites and even learn a special song that ties it all together!

Michelle McGill,
Assistant Head of Performing Arts Junior School

 Instrumental Music/Drama Program

Pulteney’s Performing Arts Department offers private tuition for a range of instruments as well as voice and drama lessons.

Applications for this year opened in December 2024 and were finalised early Term 1, however students from Reception right through to Year 12 can enrol at any time across the year. If an instrument, type of lesson or teacher is already fully booked, we can place your child on a waiting list until a lesson becomes available.

For more information about our program please click here. If you’re interested in enrolling your son or daughter, please complete the online application form.

ANZAC Commemorative Music Tour 2026 – UK, France, Belgium

In April 2026 we will embark upon our third commemorative tour. We currently have 22 musicians/students signed up to go but are looking to increase this group to 25 students. It has therefore been decided to open the access to the tour to students with an interest in Modern History who are currently in Year 9, 10 or 11.

The tour is two weeks in London, Paris, Northern France (Somme), Ypres and Bruge. We will be commemorating more fallen old scholars in London and Northern France as well as visiting some incredible places and sites.

If you’re interested in your child going on this tour please contact me URGENTLY as this opportunity closes very soon.
