OSHC, Term 1 Week 11

Dear Families,

We’ve reached the end of Term 1! It’s been a highly productive term over in OSHC with the redesign of our kitchen space, development in our planning cycle and ongoing professional learning of our strong and dedicated team of educators! We’re very much looking forward to the fun and exciting activities, incursions and excursions our educators have planned in our upcoming Autumn Vacation Care period!

Please find below a number of important highlights and updates related to OSHC and Vacation Care!

Professional Learning at OSHC – Libby Worrell from AISSA

Last week we welcomed Libby Worrell, a Senior Educational Consultant from the Association of Independent Schools of South Australia (AISSA) to support staff development and professional learning around practices and approaches that can be used in responding to and supporting challenging behaviours in OSHC and Vacation Care. We appreciated Libby’s input in facilitating discussions around how we can better align the ways in which we respond to behaviour to our Service Philosophy and integrate evidence-based practices into our programming, Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and more broadly across our service.

We look forward to welcoming Libby back again in future for a follow-up workshop that delves more deeply into specific strategies that can be used to support children’s behaviour in the OSHC environment.

Service Partnerships Visit – Hallett Cove

Last week, Barb Francis and Josh Martin visited Hallett Cove Community Children’s Centre and met with the Director, Mandy Karriem and the service’s Educational Leader to discuss service practices, infrastructure and Quality Improvement Planning. We were incredibly grateful for the opportunity to tour Hallett Cove’s Child-Care Centre and observe some of the incredible practices, routines and systems implemented across their service. We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Mandy and her team for the opportunity to visit and look forward to ongoing collaboration in future!

Following professional development sessions with Michelle Walsh (Director of Hourglass Consultancy) over the past several months, we are looking towards transforming our Quality Improvement Plan and strategic direction and refining the operations of our OSHC and Vacation Care Service at Pulteney throughout the remainder of this year! Exciting things happening at OSHC!
