Middle School, Term 4 Week 2 2026
As Term 4 gathers momentum, our Middle School students are preparing for experiences that encourage independence, strengthen connections and provide opportunities to contribute to our school community.
Year 7 Outdoor Learning Experience
Next week, our Year 7 students will head off on their Outdoor Learning experience, exploring the Adelaide Hills and coastline through mountain biking, rock climbing, sailing and environmental learning at The Forktree Project. Camping and cooking together will also provide valuable opportunities to develop teamwork, confidence and independence.
A few reminders for our Year 7 families:
- Arrival: Tuesday 27 October at 8.00am, at the Osmond Terrace Basketball Courts, ready for an 8.30am departure.
- Pick-up: Students will return to school at 3.30pm on Friday 30 October.
- SunSmart preparation: Pack a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and a rash vest for sailing, along with water bottles holding at least two litres.
- Cooking ingredients: Students should finalise their menu and shopping list with their cooking partner, confirming who is bringing each ingredient. Remember to include ingredients for the first evening’s pasta masterclass. All food must be nut-free.
- Final preparations: Please check the student information booklet carefully for equipment, clothing and medication requirements.
We look forward to seeing our students embrace new challenges, support one another and return with wonderful stories to share.
Student Leadership Opportunities for 2027
Our current Year 7 and Year 8 students are exploring the leadership opportunities available to them in 2027. These include Student Voice Committee representatives, Service Leaders and Rungie Cup Leaders, alongside the Year 9 Middle School Student Leader role.
These positions offer meaningful opportunities to represent others, contribute ideas, strengthen House spirit and serve our community. We encourage students to consider the contribution they could make and the qualities they would bring to leadership.
Written applications are due tomorrow, Wednesday 21 October, and should be emailed to Julie Dangerfield at julie.dangerfield@pulteney.sa.edu.au.
Interviews with Heads of House and the Head of Middle School will take place:
- Year 8 students: Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 October.
- Year 7 students: Wednesday 4 to Friday 6 November.
Interview times will be emailed to applicants. Current Year 8 students applying for the Year 9 Middle School Student Leader role will also present to their Year 7–9 House group on Tuesday 3 November, during Lesson 3 of ACTivate.
We look forward to hearing our students’ ideas and aspirations for the year ahead.
A Heartfelt Farewell to Our Year 12 Students
To our Year 12 students, we send our love and warmest wishes as you approach the final stages of your school journey. Our Secondary School is a connected community, and your presence, leadership and contributions have helped shape the experiences of our younger students. We will miss you.
As you commit yourselves to your final assessments and examinations, know that your Middle School community is thinking of you and cheering you on. We wish you every success during this important time and hope you take pride in all you have achieved and the connections you have made at Pulteney.
SunSmart Reminder
With the warmer weather and increasing UV levels, please ensure your child brings their school hat each day and wears it during outdoor breaks and activities. Applying sunscreen before school and reapplying throughout the day will also help students stay protected while enjoying time outdoors.
Speech Night 2026
Thursday 26 November starting at 7.00pm
Attendance at Speech Night is compulsory for all Year 9, 10, 11 and 12 students, held at the Adelaide Convention Centre.
Students must be dressed in formal winter uniform on the evening and are asked to arrive prior to 6.15pm. On arrival, non-prize winning students are to make their way to the foyer of Halls M&N, where they will be marked off the roll and then seated in their Houses, being supervised by members of staff, before the commencement of the ceremony at 7.00pm.
The evening is expected to conclude by 9.15pm and students can be picked up from then. Please arrange a suitable location for pickup with your child.
If you child is unable to attend the evening, an email to their Head of House must be forwarded to negotiate their non-attendance.
We ask that families please make arrangements around co-curricular commitments and part time work to prioritise this important event in the School’s calendar. There will be no exams on the day of or the next morning after Speech Night to accommodate students’ attendance.
Further information regarding booking tickets will be provided in next week’s PRW.
