Middle School, Term 3 Week 6 2026
Last week provided some wonderful opportunities to celebrate the breadth of talent, commitment and spirit within our Middle School community. Congratulations to all Middle School students who participated in Intercol and to those who performed at Gig at the Gov last Thursday evening.
These events are highlights on our School calendar and an absolute privilege to observe. Whether representing Pulteney through sport, music or performance, our students demonstrated enthusiasm, courage, teamwork and a genuine sense of pride in their School. Thank you also to the staff, families and supporters who contributed to these experiences and encouraged our students along the way. It was wonderful to see our community come together and celebrate our young people. Go Navy Blues!
Looking Ahead: Years 8 and 9 in 2027
This Thursday evening, we warmly invite parents and caregivers of our current Year 7 and Year 8 students to an information session exploring what lies ahead as students progress into Years 8 and 9 in 2027.
The session is designed to provide families with a clearer understanding of the learning journey through the Middle School and the opportunities available as students continue to grow academically, socially and personally.
During the evening, Nadia Maglica, Director of Teaching & Learning, and our Heads of Department will share information about subject pathways and electives, enrichment opportunities, expectations for learning, and the broader experiences available across Years 8 and 9.
The evening will also provide an opportunity to explore how our Middle School philosophy underpins this journey. Strong relationships remain at the heart of our approach, alongside our commitment to ensuring every student is known, valued and nurtured. As students progress through these important adolescent years, we aim to provide the right balance of support, challenge, opportunity and increasing independence.

Year 9 into Year 10 – Supporting the Transition to Senior School
As our Year 9 students move towards the conclusion of their Middle School journey, we are also looking ahead to their transition into Senior School.
On Tuesday 8 September, from 9.00am–10.00am, current Year 9 parents and caregivers are invited to attend our Year 9 into Year 10 Parent Information Session.
The morning will include a tour of the Senior School, an overview of the transition plan, curriculum and expectations for the senior years, and information from Heads of House about student development, academic learning and pastoral care. There will also be an opportunity for parents and caregivers to ask questions and become more familiar with what students can expect as they begin this next stage of their Pulteney journey.
These transition opportunities are an important part of ensuring both students and families feel informed, connected and confident about what comes next. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with families as our students embrace the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences ahead.
Year 8 AMPout
AMPout is part of the AMPlify program for Year 8 students. AMP stands for Act with Meaning and Purpose. The program gives students real-world learning experiences in the community, with this year’s focus on civics and citizenship.
The week began with a visit to the Bush Kindy students, where the group learned about Acknowledgements of Country and the Proclamation of South Australia.
Through the week, students visited Parliament House, the Adelaide Gaol, the Magistrates Court, and the Centre for Democracy, and engaged with the Commission for Legal Services and the Electoral Commission. They also visited sites connected to social reform and women’s suffrage.
At the Adelaide Gaol, students discussed how the site’s purpose shifted over time from punishment toward justice and reform, noting that prisoners could work, learn skills, and get an education to prepare them to return to society.
At Parliament House, students learned how a bill must pass through both houses of parliament and receive the Governor’s assent before becoming law, and discussed how this process allows ideas to be tested and debated. At the Magistrates Court, students discussed how the court aims for justice rather than punishment, weighing bail and opportunities for reform against repeat offending.
On Thursday, students used what they had learned to prepare a bill on a topic of their choice and presented it through a mock parliamentary process, including first and second readings and questioning.
The week concluded with students working with the Wellbeing team on character building and what it takes to create positive cultures and discussed the responsibilities that come with citizenship.
