Friday 18 September: RU OK? Day and World’s Greatest Shave School Fundraiser

On Friday of Week 9 there will be a “splash of yellow” casual clothes day with a $2 donation.

We encourage all students get involved on the day to help raise funds and awareness of the RU OK? Foundation and the Leukaemia Foundation. On the day there will be a bake sale along with lolly bags for sale in the quad. There will also be live music, picnic blankets to sit on and games available for students to partake in. All funds collected on the day will be donated to the RU OK? Foundation, and to the Leukaemia Foundation.

Support for this year’s World’s Greatest Shave has been amazing, with more than 40 students and staff signing up to be involved. So far, our Pulteney community has raised more than $36,000, and with three days still to go, we are hopeful of exceeding $40,000.

With so many students involved, we have staged the hair cutting over two days, with some students having their hair cut or shaved at Senior School Assembly today. The event, organised by our School leaders, was a huge success, with a fantastic atmosphere and tremendous support from students and staff for such a worthy cause.

We look forward to seeing the remainder of our participants take part on the deck at lunchtime on Friday for R U OK? Day.

There are some guidelines that students need to adhere to, mostly due to health and safety requirements. Please refer to the following so that it can be an enjoyable and safe day for all:

• Shoulders must be covered (i.e. no strapless or singlet tops to be worn)
• Slogans and logos must not be offensive
• Shoes must cover feet properly (i.e. no thongs or ugg-boots)
• No heavy make-up (as per normal School expectations)
• Different jewellery may be worn, but still only one set of earrings
• Long hair must be tied back (as per normal School expectations)
• The day is not a costume or dress-up day ie. no ‘onesies’, no pyjamas

If your child has PE on the day, they are still expected to wear appropriate clothes for exercising in, although this may be non-PE uniform sports clothes. We look forward to an enjoyable day whilst raising important funds.

Junior School
The following dance troupes are cancelled this week due to Year 6 Camp and teacher away on camp:

• Wednesday 16 September – Junior Year 5/6 Dance Troupe BLUE
• Friday 18 September – Junior Year 5/6 Dance Troupe WHITE

Also, a reminder that all Junior School Performing Arts co-curricular activities finish this week (Week 9) and will resume Week 1, Term 4.

Year 5/6 Junior School Musical “Dare to Dream JR”

Oh my goodness, what a show! The Year 5 and 6 students, our Middle School technical crew, all the staff and parent helpers, and the amazing Michelle McGill achieved something truly incredible. This show was spectacular, to say the least.

The amount of work and learning that went into this academic and Performing Arts production was enormous. Most importantly, the joy shown by the students on stage was wonderful to see. The comments and feedback I received from audiences as they left all three performances were simply extraordinary. So many parents and grandparents could not believe the standard achieved, with many commenting on just how ‘professional’ the production was.

Everything came together beautifully! From the lighting and sound led by Nathan Schubert to the choreography and singing led by Michelle McGill and through to the set design, costumes, technical crew and performances.

Congratulations to everyone involved. What an incredible experience for our Year 5 and 6 students and a wonderful celebration of Performing Arts at Pulteney.

Choral Concert (Week 2, Term 4)

Save the Date! On Monday 19 October we will be presenting our annual Choral Concert in the Chapel from 4.00-5.15pm.

The following choirs will be performing:

• Junior Kurrajong Choir
• Junior Year 3/4 Concert Choir
• Junior Year 5/6 Concert Choir

Please note the following special requirements:

• Students have been released from Monday afternoon sport co-curriculars; please ensure coaches are aware
• Normal school uniform – no formal uniform. PE uniform is fine if students have the lesson or related co-curricular during the day
• No tickets are required for this event. Simply come along and enjoy a wonderful afternoon celebrating our talented Pulteney choirs.

Instrumental Music and Drama Program

Pulteney’s Performing Arts Department offers private tuition for a range of instruments as well as voice and drama lessons.

Applications for this year opened in December 2025 and have been finalised, however students from Reception right through to Year 12 can enrol at any time across the year. If an instrument, type of lesson or teacher is already fully booked, we can place your child on a waiting list until a lesson becomes available.
