Junior School, Term 3 Week 10 2025
On Monday morning our Junior School Captains, Edwina and Wesley and Vice Captains Eleanor and Evan, joined Mr King and Rev. Paul on a visit to Lutheran Care. Using money raised from the Nature Market, the students collected $2000 worth of meat that will be provided to families in need. All of the cans and non-perishable items donated last term were also delivered. Lutheran Care were ecstatic at this donation, as their fridges regularly run short of meat. The efforts of the Pulteney Community will make a huge difference in the lives of so many families who are struggling to put healthy food on the table at present.
Students Reflection
On the 22nd of September, the SRC leaders (Evan, Edwina, Eleanor, and Wesley), Reverend Paul, and Mr. King, donated goods to the Lutheran Care Facility. I wanted to start by saying that it was incredibly fulfilling to watch the faces of the staff at the Lutheran Care Facility light up when we delivered the food from Austral meats and the cans and food from the food drive.
We learnt about the charity through Reverend Paul’s connections that run through the charity community. We also decided to not only give the charity non-perishable food, but also fresh meat so that they (The Lutheran Care Facility) can give meat straight to the people who need it instead of making the people who need the fresh meat wait until the Lutheran Care Facility could buy it. We are committed to donating to charities to help the broader community.
This donation was made possible with nearly 2 terms of preparation. The things that contributed to the donation to the Lutheran Care Facility were the money from the nature market that paid for the fresh meat from Austral Meat, and the non-perishable items from the whole school food and can drive.

Year 6 Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER)
Last week, Year 6 students from Pulteney Grammar School undertook a wonderful and invaluable educational tour of Canberra, our nation’s capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a range of programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians visiting the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government is contributing funding of $90 per student to Pulteney Grammar School under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program. This rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
During the educational tour of Canberra, Pulteney’s Year 6 students visited:
- Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD)
- National Electoral Education Centre
- National Portrait Gallery
- National Archives of Australia
- National Arboretum Canberra
- National Museum of Australia
- Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre
- National Film and Sound Archive of Australia
- Australian National Botanic Gardens
- National Capital Authority
In addition, students were fortunate to visit the Australian War Memorial, Australian Institute of Sport, Parliament House, Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex, and Government House.

2026 Class requests
Early next term, teachers will start to create class lists for the 2026 school year. This is a sensitive process that takes many factors into account including;
- projected number of children in each year level
- ratio of boys to girls
- spread of academic and social needs
- Wellbeing Team recommendations
If you have any request that you would like to be considered, please email me at Jason.fay@pulteney.sa.edu.au.
Please be aware that these requests will be used to inform decisions. We cannot guarantee these requests will be granted when all information is taken into account. Parent requests must be specific to academic or social needs and not based on specific teacher preferences.
Class requests must be received by the end of the school holidays to allow for full consideration.

Year 6 students – Shrek Jnr Holiday Workshop
Ms McGill has organised a special school holiday rehearsal workshop for all Year 6 students. This will be held on Friday 10 October from 10.00am–3.00pm in Wyatt Hall.
Attendance is optional. The day is simply an extra opportunity for students who would like to do some additional work on the show as the performance approaches.
Please complete the online consent form so Ms McGill knows which students will be attending. It’s important we have this information in advance of the day.
Piano Concert Cancelled
The proposed piano concert on Tuesday 14 October has been cancelled for this year due to low interest. The performers who did want to play have been moved across to the Invitational Concert on Tuesday 18 November 6.00pm in the Chapel. I look forward to this wonderful event.
