Junior School, Term 3 Week 1 2026
Welcome to Term 3. A special welcome to our new families, particularly our new Mid-Year Reception families. Term 3 is such a busy term and as we head into the second half of the year, every week will feel quicker than the last. We have Grandparents Day Bookweek, the Year 5-6Musical and 3 Camps to name just a few key events. Please keep your eye on the Pulteney App and PRW over the coming weeks to stay up to date.
A reminder that all sport co-curricular will commence Week 1 with Performing Arts co-curricular commencing form Week 2.
Grandparents’ and Special Friends Day
Our ELC and Junior School students are looking forward to welcoming their grandparents, special friends and other important people in their lives to School on Friday 31 July.
To help ensure a comfortable experience for everyone, we ask that each family invite no more than four guests.
ELC Event Details
8.45am – 9.30am ELC Stay and Play Visit, ELC Classrooms
Grandparents, special friends and significant people are invited to join our ELC students for a special Stay and Play session, sharing in their play-based learning.
9.30am Morning Tea, Kurrajong under croft (ELC guests only)
Guests attending the Stay and Play are invited to remain for morning tea.
Reception to Year 6 Event Details
9.45am – 10.30am Junior School Assembly, Robert Henshall Sports Centre
Reception to Year 6 students will celebrate their learning, talents and school spirit in a special assembly for the important people in their lives.
10.30am – 11.00am Classroom Visits, Individual Classrooms
Guests are invited into classrooms to explore students’ work and share in their learning.
11.00am – 11.30am Shared Morning Tea
Kurrajong under croft (Reception – Year 2 guests)
Junior School Basketball Court (Year 3 to Year 6 guests)
Reception to Year 6 students and their guests are invited to enjoy First Break together. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be provided for guests, while students will bring their usual First Break snack.
Important Information
- ELC children who are not normally booked on Fridays are welcome to attend with their visiting grandparent or special guest.
- ELC guests are welcome to attend the 9.45am Junior School Assembly if they also have grandchildren in Reception to Year 6.
- Students without grandparents attending are warmly encouraged to invite a special friend or another important person in their life.
- Short-term parking is available on the corner of King William Road and Gilles Street.

Junior Ethics Olympiad 2026
This year we entered 5 children into the online Junior Ethics Olympiad. I had the pleasure of working with the children in Term 1 and 2. In this time, the children discussed ethical cases and considered what the ethical issues were as well as the different perspectives ready for the competition. During the training sessions the children learnt about ethical theories such as Virtue Ethics, Utilitarianism, Consequentialism and Deontology to connect to the cases.
On Wednesday 17 June the children were involved in several online Ethics Olympiad heats. The children were scored according to set criteria which rewarded clear, concise and respectful conversations around challenging ethical cases.
The children worked very well as a team on the day and should be commended for their commitment to this challenging event. Whilst the team did not place they received an Honourable Mention.

I would also like to acknowledge Ahana Sinha who joined us online from India, as well as her family for allowing this to happen.

Instrumental Soiree
Our Term 3 Soirée will take place next Tuesday 28 July in the Chapel. Due to significant interest, we have split the soirée into two concerts on the same evening; one at 5.00pm and the other at 6.15pm.
Parents of performing students will receive an email tomorrow with details of the concert their child is involved in. We look forward to seeing our students perform as they continue to build their skill in public performance and further develop their craft as musicians.
Coffee in the Lane
Please come along and hear the Year 9 Music class band perform on Friday 7 August, Week 3, from 7.50am until about 8.20am. We hope to see you all then.
Junior Year 1 Dance Troupe Teacher
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Alex Zeitz for her teaching and contribution to our Dance co-curricular program over the past several years. Alex has been a wonderful member of our Performing Arts community, and we are incredibly grateful for the passion, care and expertise she has shared with our students. As Alex and her husband prepare to welcome their first child, we wish them every happiness and all the very best for this exciting new chapter in their lives.
We are delighted to welcome Addison Ritossa as the new teacher of our Junior Year 1 Dance Troupe. Addison graduated from Pulteney in 2025, having completed Stage 2 Dance in 2024. During her time at Pulteney, Addison was a highly regarded student leader and served as Dance Captain in 2024.
Addison’s passion for dance and commitment to her craft will no doubt inspire our young dancers. We are thrilled to welcome her back to the Pulteney Performing Arts community and look forward to her beginning with the students next week.
Instrumental Music and Drama Program
Pulteney’s Performing Arts Department offers private tuition for a range of instruments as well as voice and drama lessons.
Applications for this year opened in December 2025 and have been finalised, however students from Reception right through to Year 12 can enrol at any time across the year. If an instrument, type of lesson or teacher is already fully booked, we can place your child on a waiting list until a lesson becomes available.

Year 3 string and Year 5 band Immersion concert
On Tuesday evening, more than 200 parents enjoyed a wonderful concert as the Year 3 String Immersion and Year 5 Band Immersion programs came together to showcase what they have learned throughout the semester. It was truly a concert filled with joy.
The fact that every Year 3 and Year 5 student has learned to play a musical instrument, whether it be violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, trumpet, trombone or clarinet, is an incredible achievement. These programs are a significant part of our Junior School Performing Arts curriculum, and we invest considerable energy and resources into them because we know the extraordinary learning that takes place through music education.
Beyond learning an instrument, students develop coordination, communication skills, resilience, teamwork and the ability to work towards long-term goals. It is wonderful to see the growth in confidence and musicianship that occurs over the course of the semester.
All students involved in the program now have the opportunity to continue their learnings with a further semester of small-group lessons at no cost as part of the Immersion Continuers Program. Historically, we have achieved a retention rate of approximately 55%, and we hope to see a similar result again this year.
