Hutt St Centre fundraiser: ‘Walk a Mile’
As part of our service learning commitment, we are participating in the annual Hutt St Centre fundraiser: ‘Walk a Mile’ on Friday, 7 August. We have been conducting this walk for several years, and it helps to raise funds for more than 7,000 people experiencing homelessness in South Australia. We brave the cold by walking a mile, with all funds going to Hutt St Centre, which provides hearty meals, hot showers, and essential support in a safe, welcoming space for people experiencing homelessness.
The walk will take place in Victoria Park from 7.00am on the day and is a Middle School-supported initiative. All students in Years 7 to 12 are welcome, with staff and students walking together as a group. Students are asked to nominate their interest via personalised communication they’ll receive, which will provide further information, including logistics of the morning. They can also chat with Rev Paul, Carrie Phillis, Kira Zhang, Nektaria Mavragelos, Lucy Jones, Emilie Atterton or any of the student service leaders.
The impact a small initiative like this can have on these people’s lives is remarkable. The Hutt St Centre has some excellent resources that you’re welcome to explore via the link below. https://www.huttstcentre.org.au/who-we-help . We look forward to this initiative, and together, we can help end homelessness.
