Experiential Learning, Term 1 Week 10 2025

Outdoor Learning

What a week our Year 10 campers had last week. A small group travelled to Melrose and had some action-packed days, with activities such as mountain biking, hiking and rock climbing. The team started many of their activities as early as they could, aiming to beat the afternoon heat, yet were having so much fun rock climbing and abseiling that they ended up staying at the cliff until 4pm. The outdoor learning team was really impressed with how well the group came together over the week.

Our other group made their way down to Victoria, for a 3-day paddle journey along the picturesque Glenelg River. Their hard work was rewarded with a snorkel in the stunning Kilsby Sinkhole near Mt. Gambier, where they met the resident freshwater turtle. Many special moments were shared and reflected on over dinner and under the stars. Some photos can be found on the carousel below.

This week looks quite similar, as the other half of the cohort are off on fun adventures, a little closer to home. Some have spent today surfing and snorkeling at the tip of  Yorke Peninsula, and will get to check out the shipwrecks, lighthouses and cliffs that make Innes National Park so special tomorrow.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the last of the 4 groups will have been surfing, mountain biking, rock climbing and to Tree Climb, and still have tree-planting and kayaking to go. Phew, what a packed week! We look forward to debriefing on all the adventures next week.
