Getting to Know Ourselves: Wita Self-Portrait Journey Begins
Over the past two weeks, the children have begun a special journey of self-discovery through digital self-portraits. Using iPads, they explored the question “What do you like about you?”, sharing thoughts about their appearance, abilities and the things that make them who they are.
In the spirit of Reggio Emilia, we see each child as capable, curious and full of ideas worth listening to. Offering technology as one of the “hundred languages” children can use to express themselves allowed them to communicate their sense of self in a creative, hands-on way, while also building digital literacy and confidence.
This experience nurtures children’s growing sense of identity, self-esteem and emotional wellbeing, and connects with the Early Years Learning Framework’s Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity. It also links with the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum, reminding children that they are each unique, valued, and deserving of safety and respect.
Looking ahead, we’ll continue exploring identity, emotions and diversity through stories, discussion and creativity, alongside conversations about body awareness and respectful relationships.

Date – Friday 28 August Details – 10am Kurrajong Grassed Area Children who do not attend ELC on Fridays are welcome to attend, please note a family member must be present and is responsible for their supervision.

| Learning Conferences
Semester 2 Learning Conferences will be held in Week 7 and provide an important opportunity for students, parents and teachers to reflect on progress, celebrate achievements and discuss goals for the remainder of the year. For all students, ELC-Year 12, please note the following dates:

Long Lunch Class Basket Donations
- Make a monetary donation online, allowing the organising committee to curate beautiful hampers; or
- Donate an item, with collection baskets available in all ELC and Junior School classrooms.
