ELC, Term 3 Week 10 2026

We are coming to the end of our time at Yartangka Bush Kindy for this year. The muddy puddles, which vary in size and depth, have been the highlight, and there has even been water flowing in the creek.

The children have been;

• Geologists finding fossils, shells and researching the difference between quartz and quartzite.
• Mathematicians measuring the depth of the puddles and counting when playing hide and seek.
• Architects building cubbies, insect houses and fires.
• Botanists noticing the differences in flora, particularly Moreton Bay figs and sour sobs.
• Artists painting the landscape around them and mark making on paper and the ground.
• Meteorologists reading the clouds and noticing the changes in weather.
• Ornithologists deepening their knowledge of Rainbow Lorikeets, Magpies and Minor birds.
• Veterinarians experiencing the life cycle of possums.

During play, children are advocates for caring for the land, only using what they need and demonstrating the connection to Kaurna culture.

The ELC holiday care program commences next Monday 28 September, Term 4 begins on Monday 12 October. Wishing everyone a wonderful term break with plenty of time to rest, reconnect and hopefully enjoy the improving weather.
