Director of Teaching and Learning, STEM Girls Academy

We are excited to offer a wonderful opportunity for a small group of girls in our Year 10 Science and Year 9 Engineering classes who are passionate about STEM to take part in the STEM Girls Academy program at Adelaide University.

This program includes two workshops:

STEM Creative Lab: AI Edition – 1 day workshop
MOD. Studio – City West Campus
Tuesday 20 May (Week 4, Term 2)
9:15am – 2:30pm

This is a full-day workshop held during normal school hours. It includes a 1-hour interactive AI literacy lecture delivered by a female academic, followed by a 3-hour hands-on design sprint focused on using AI thoughtfully and creatively.

Creative Challenge – 3 day workshop
Adelaide University – City West Campus
Week 7 – Tues 9 June
Week 8 – Tues 16 June
Week 9 – Tues 23 June
9:15am – 2:30pm

This is a three-day, fully on-campus workshop delivered by university academics and industry partners. Students work through the Design Thinking process to solve real-world problems alongside girls from other schools. Places are limited (approximately 30 students per session, around five per school) .

The detailed program is attached if you would like more information.

To express interest, students must complete the STUDENT ENROLMENT FORM with a parent/guardian by this Friday 6 March, as it includes permissions relating to image consent and research data collection. The university has ethics approval for data collection, and participation is not dependent on providing consent for research.

If we receive more interest than the program has capacity for, we will engage in a more formal selection process.

There is a tight turnaround. As it is already the 3rd of March and enrolments close this Friday 6 March 2026, families will need to complete the form as soon as possible.

Please enrol using the link provided together with your parents.

This is a valuable opportunity to build creative confidence, critical thinking and real-world STEM problem-solving skills in a university setting. We would love to see strong interest from our girls in Year 9 Engineering and Year 10 Science.
