Congratulations:

Keely Sheidow

Congratulation to Keely Sheidow has experienced some out-standing results across her sporting endeavours this year:

U18 Softball SA Association Premiers West Torrens Softball Club Inc and was awarded U18 WT Most Valuable Player. Keely played in the B grade Prelim-finalist for West Torrens. Disappointingly they did not venture through to the Grand Final. Keely was awarded B grade West Torrens Best defensive player (Gold Glove).

Keely was selected for the U18 State Lacrosse SA National team. The team competed in Perth recently. They had a very successful trip making it to the Grand Final. The team put in a great game however lost by one goal to Victoria.

Congratulations to Charlie, who has been selected to represent South Australia in the U19 Men’s team at the Volleyball Australia Junior Volleyball Championships in Sydney, July 2023. This has been a goal and focus of Charlie’s for a few years, and we are extremely proud of him making the team. His love of the sport, hard work and commitment is testament to this achievement.

Football

Our Pulteney Football Teams had a blue wash this week.

Our Middle and Senior Girls played Wilderness bringing home the win in both grades. Thank you to all the girls that have filled in during the past few weeks to assist filling sides with the conflict with the Musical. We are so thrilled you have found the passion and love in the game of AFL, through this experience.

Our Year 6/7 team competed against Sacred Heart on their home turf, bringing home another win.

Soccer

On the road this week resulted in a mixture of results.

Our First XI Soccer Team had a very tight and competitive game on Wednesday night with a few late goals against Pulteney resulting in a win to Cardijn College.

Our Open B grade had a win against CBC on Saturday morning.

The Middle A team lost to St Pauls.

The Girl’s team had a bye.

Netball

It was a cold and at times wet start for our Netball teams on the courts this week; which saw Pulteney with a mix of results. While there were some great competitive patches, unfortunately our Senior teams didn’t manage to get a win. However, a few of our new Saturday coaches and their teams started their season on a high, with their teams successfully using constant defensive pressure and great court transitions to have our Years 9, 8 and 7 teams all come away winners in their first round.

Mentors:

In 2023, we have two qualified umpire coaches / mentors who oversees our Netball Umpiring Academy. We welcome both Abbie Spicer and Renai Foote to Pulteney this year.

Their role is to mentor and guide Pulteney’s umpires in achieving their goals and hopefully spark a passion for officiating.

2023 Pulteney Netball Umpiring Academy.

Aims

The Pulteney Umpiring Academy is designed to assist everyone involved in Netball to identify and support new officials. The academy is aligned with the National Green Shirt umpiring program which is supported by the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing and partnered with Netball SA aims to support and retain new officials.

The Pulteney Academy aims to enable participants to develop their officiating skills in a more supportive environment, one free of harassment and where they can develop their skills further.

The Umpiring Academy aims to:

  • Make new officials easily identifiable, so that they are easy to recognise and support.
  • Promote this program to the sports community to raise awareness and increase the recognition and support of new officials.
  • Assist in reducing pressure and lessening abuse and conflict directed towards beginner officials; and
  • Create a culture of support towards these new officials via the education of players, spectators, coaches and the media about Codes of Conduct and Play by the Rules.
  • Create a passion for officiating and help umpires develop their skills of umpiring
  • Attempt a National C Badge at the completion of the program

Pathway

The Pulteney Netball Umpiring Academy offers a pathway for umpires to continually develop their skills over a two-year period with the support they need.
