Jesus Christ Superstar : SIMPLY EXTRAORDINARY!

Words cannot express my feelings about the experience that was our “Jesus Christ Superstar” production. The production was the best school musical I have ever been part of by a significant margin. While our previous and recent productions of “Wicked”, “Matilda” and “Mamma Mia” are all in my top 5 best ever, this production of JCS tops the list! The lead actors, supporting actors, dance troupe, ensemble cast, the orchestra, the set design, costumes, singing, lighting and sound, and the choreography were all quite outstanding! Finally, the direction and vision of the production was incredible – far beyond my expectations due to our amazing director, Jo Casson of Ding Productions. Jo’s work was remarkable as well as inclusive and so supportive of the students participating on the show.

We sold a record number of tickets, well over 1500, and received two glowing reviews from Glam Adelaide and Theatre Association of SA.

There are so many people to thank, but in summary, I want to thank the Principal and Executive leadership team of Pulteney for enabling this production to go ahead. Putting on a production of this scale is a commitment and one that I am so grateful for. I would also specially thank the students who all worked so hard to get this show onto the stage as well as my amazing production team. Again, these teachers went far beyond normal expectations, and I cannot thank them enough.

We have deliberately planned and executed these plans to build a stronger musical theatre capacity here at Pulteney. This includes the introduction of dance to our academic and co-curricular programs as simply being ambitious to achieve the best possible productions we can.

I also note here that any student in Year 7 through to Year 12 can be part of the cast of our productions. This inclusive approach secures a huge cast that simply give it their best shot. I know the students had to ‘climb a mountain’ to get to the standard we delivered last week, and they should all feel rightly proud of their achievements.

Thanks also to the parents of our show members, who supported and transported the students right the way through our musical journey.

4.00-5.15pm    Junior Concert
5.00-7.00pm    Food trucks and bar
7.00-9.00pm    MS/SS Concert

All the major ensembles and choirs will be performing at this event, except for both stage bands who will not be playing this time. Next week we will release the programs of which groups and individuals are performing.

Tickets are now available to purchase for the Junior School Concert and Middle/Senior School Concert. They are two separate concerts, so if you would like to attend both then you will need to purchase tickets accordingly. Tickets are $10.00 for all adults and free of charge for non-performing students. Students who are performing in the concert do not require a ticket.

Don’t forget to plan to have dinner here with our food trucks, soup kitchen and bar. It will be a lovely pair of concerts and we hope to see many people attend.

SACE Stage 2 Music Solo Performance

The second music solo performance assessment type (AT2) is fast approaching and will take place in the Chapel on Tuesday 27 June at 5.00pm. As we saw in the first assessment task, the performance standard of this class is remarkable so please come along and see our most senior music students perform a wide variety of music for us all. No ticket required.

Year 3 Strings Concert

We are so excited to be presenting our first Year 3 strings concert, as a result of the new immersion strings program. The Year 3C students will present a short concert, playing their string instruments – violin, viola and cello. It will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday 27 June at 2.45pm and all are welcome to attend. No ticket required.

Parents, please download Canvas prior to Learning Conferences.
Canvas is one the most innovative and adaptable platforms in the LMS landscape, providing a safe online environment for us to design personalised Pulteney courses. Canvas enables students, parents, and teachers to share and exchange detailed information about the teaching and learning process as it develops for each student. Importantly, it serves as the primary platform for reporting your child’s progress, aligning with the continuous reporting strategy implemented this year.
