one ninety, Term 4 Week 8

May I take this opportunity to thank all of our families in the senior school for their support of Pulteney Grammar this year. It has been a dynamic year, from the celebrations to mark such a special occasion as our 175th anniversary and the opening of the Cambrell renovation and enterprising spaces, to navigating once again the challenges of COVID. Across the year, I have been impressed with how deftly our students have adapted to changes, while continuing to find opportunities to contribute to and be part of our community.

Through all the celebrations of our students’ achievements across this year, we have seen just how they are prospering through their academic and co-curricular endeavours. Of note: congratulations to Nanci Congdon and Leo Zhu (both Year 10) who were awarded a 2022 Chinese Language Learner’s Award (Secondary) last Friday.

Finally, I wish you and your families a joyous, restful and well-deserved holiday break, and look forward to the new year and new opportunities with it.

Week 8 Arrangements

We have an exciting and dynamic final week planned for Year 10 and 11 students with activities ranging from those designed to give students a head start for their Year 11 and 12 studies in 2023, opportunities to bond and develop new skills and opportunities to give, through service, to those in need. Especially pertinent as we move into the holiday season.

The Big Day In and Year 10 Moving Up Day today were fantastic and our students really showed us their commitment to success in their studies through their dedication and focus across each session.

Students are expected to be present for all days and activities, up to and including the final whole school assembly on Friday afternoon.

As we prepare for the annual reset of the building over the holiday break, students are asked to clean out their lockers and take all belongings home with them. All students will be allocated a new locker in the new year. Belongings left in lockers over the Christmas break will be cleaned out to prepare for this and we cannot guarantee that belongings will be kept.

Please see below the schedule for the week.

Year 9 into 10 ‘moving up’

On Thursday of Week 8, the 2023 Forum of Prefects and House Captains will host a ‘moving up’ morning for the Year 9s before their final Middle School assembly.

The student leaders will share information on daily routines and expectations, helpful hints for life in the Senior School such as how to stay organised, balancing schoolwork and co curricula with the rest of your life, and how to get the most out of your senior years. At the conclusion of their presentation students will break out into House Groups in what will be their 2023 Year 10 tutor rooms for a small group Q&A session, again hosted by the student leaders.
